Chapter 4
You walk upstairs and start down the hallway making your way to Isaac’s
bedroom. You lightly knock on the door as your heart pounds in your chest. No
answer. So you push the door open a little bit, just enough to stick your head
in.
“Isaac?” You murmur.
“Huh?” He replies while he keeps looking outside his bedroom window.
Slowly, he turns around, “Christina?”
“Yes Isaac. It’s me. How are you?” You step inside the room, closer to
him.
“Me? I am fine. What are you doing here? You broke up with me remember?”
He jumps from question to question, not giving you much time to answer
either.
“Isaac please. I am here to see your family... to see you. Aren’t you happy to
see me?”
“Happy? Why? Do you know how much pain I have been through without you?
I poured my heart out to you and then you dumped me... as you left.”
“Look Isaac. I know. But it hasn’t been fun for me either. I don’t know what I
was thinking. Please? I think we need to talk about this, don’t you?”
“No. There is no reason to talk. Just do me a favor and leave me alone.” His
last sentence is very stern. You know him well enough to know that he doesn’t mean it
and you’d try later.
You slowly turn and shut the door behind you with tears forming on the brim of
your eyes. Walking downstairs to the living room, Taylor sees you and gives you a
hug, “Let me talk to him.” He tells you.
“Taylor, as corny as this is going to sound, I don’t want to loose him.....
again.”
“Well, I’ll tell ya what, I’ll help you unpack your stuff and then I will have a talk
with him. He just isn’t himself anymore.”
“I don’t know. Maybe I shouldn’t even stay here. I don’t want him to hate
me.”
“He’s not going to hate you. He loves you too much, he just doesn’t want to
admit it right now. Come on.” Taylor picks up two of you suitcases and heads down to
the basement. “Sorry about having you stay down here. But this is what Mom
considers her guest room.” As you come to the foot of the stairs, you see a king size
bed with a television across from it. And a tiny bathroom off to the side.
“Looks cozy to me!” You say with a little laugh. You hadn’t expected this
much.
“You can put your clothes in this dresser, or there is a closet over there,” he
points across the room. “Mom had to run Jessie to a friends house, but she will be
back in a little while. And then we will probably have dinner a short time after that.
Now, if you don’t mind, I am going to see my brother. Later.”
“Bye,” you turn to your suitcases and wonder why you brought so much stuff.
But you quickly get to work with unpacking everything and stretch out on the bed. You
had been so tired, that you feel asleep.
