Chapter 15

“Are you sure you are ready for this?” Isaac asks you as he shifts the car into park.

“Positive,” you take in a deep breathe and gaze at the house. Slowly you open your door. A tall handsome man steps out onto the porch. Isaac walks quickly around the side of the car and takes hold of you hand, helping you walk up the pathway to the porch. About half way there, you release Isaac’s hand and run up to them. “Dad?” You sputter at the man. He grabs hold of you and tears flow from your eyes.

“Thank-you Lord. My prayers have been answered.” He whispers and takes a step back to get a good look at you. “You look as beautiful as your mother.” He continues. “Come on inside.”

Isaac returns to your side, taking hold of you hand. The two of you follow Frank into the house. He introduces you to your sister, Kim, age 21 and your brother Mike, age 19, both older than you.

The five of you settle down in the living room, discussing the many events that have taken place your lives. After a few hours of talking, Frank excuses himself, as well as Kim and Mike, to get some photo albums out.

Isaac wraps his arm around your shoulders. “You’re doing great. I’m so proud of you.” He pecks your cheek and you smile, leaning your head on his shoulder.

“Thanks....” you whisper to him as Mike returns carrying photo albums, followed by Kim with some drinks. You find yourself with a whirl-wind of photos, and memories.

“This...” Franks pauses and picks the photo up, “is one of the two only pictures we have of you. This one was taken the day we brought you home. The lady holding you is your mother. You can have this.”

You smile and proudly take the photo from him. “So... what happened to Mom?” You ask them. Looking for an answer of anything, just so that you could know about her.

“Your mother left us, soon after you were born. She took you with her, we never knew why and we never knew if she was taking good care of you or anything.” Frank finishes.

You sit in there in disbelief, and bewilderment. Wondering who she was, where she was, and why she did what she did.

A few hours pass, and you find yourself searching for a way to leave. Finally making up an excuse of some errands you had to run, you make your out to the porch. Frank and Mike follow.

“We would like to go out to dinner sometime before you go home -Friday did you say?”

“Umm... yeah.” You look Isaac for an approval or disapproval of some sort. He nods his head. “Okay.” You smile, waiting for a day and a time.

“How about tomorrow night at 7 PM, my favorite restaurtant, the Outback?” Frank asks.

“Sounds good, I’ll see you tomorrow night.” Giving each of them a hug, you and Isaac then make your way home.
