Chapter 13

The morning sun shone bright as you walked in the kitchen and half the Hanson clan eating breakfast. Isaac stood up and walked over to you. “I thought you would like to sleep in this morning, so I didn’t wake you.” He says to you faintly.

You return the statement with a simple “Thank you.”

“Would you like something to eat honey?” Diana asks from the end of the table. Walker pours you a cup of coffee.

“No, just coffee will be fine,” you give Diana a little smile. You take the cup from Walker and take a seat next to Isaac. You watch as Taylor and Zac politely excuse themselves from the table.

You were left, face-to-face, with Isaac and both Diana and Walker. “We’re sorry to hear that you have to go through all of this,” Diana calmly states.

You don’t acknowledge her comment, instead you persist to run your finger along the edge of the cup. Walker politely excuses himself from the table and Diana follows. Isaac moves his chair in closer to you and grabs onto your hand.

“What happened?” He asks you, sensing something is upsetting you.

“He isn’t my father, they lied,” you murmur to him.

“What?” He questions your statement.

“I called him last night,” a tear forms and runs down your cheek, Isaac rubs your arm, “and he said that his daughter, Christina, was kidnapped when she was really young and they had never found her.”

“So what are you trying to say? That your mother kidnapped you?” He asks you.

You can’t even open your mouth, a simple nod unleashes an ambush of emotion.
