Chapter 29
“Here Christina. I saved a seat for you.” Mackie exclaims when he sees you turn
the corner into the kitchen.
“Looks like I have some competition.” Isaac whispers to you.
“Don’t worry. I’ll let him down gently” You reply with a grin.
You sat down to enjoy a meal with the entire Hanson family. Everyone from
Walker to Zoë. The dinner was marvelous! You had baked chicken with mashed
potatoes, fresh green beans, and rolls. Sticking to little portions, you finished first and
thanked Diana for a great meal. Then you and Isaac started cleaning the table and
helped wash dishes. About 20 minutes after starting, the entire family was done and
out of the kitchen. Isaac was having trouble getting the sink’s plug out.
“Need help?” You asked him sarcastically. How hard could this be?
“No.... I think.... I got it!” As soon as he said that, the plug came out and splashed
tons of water on you.
“Thanks a lot!” You laugh and pick up some of the soap suds that were left after
the water slipped down the sink and rub them in Isaac’s hair.
“Hey!” He turns the water on and makes his fingers wet and splashes you with
water. You jump back just missing his attempt at getting you back. He gets you
cornered and wraps his arms around your waist and pulls in against him and lightly
kisses you.
You pull back and laugh. “What was that for?”
“For being you,” he then lightly pecks your lips again and steps back when he
hears Mackie behind him.
“Christina, do you want to come read a book to me?” He asks you shyly.
“Hey Mackie, can she some read you a book before you go to bed later? I would
like to spend some time with her.” Isaac tells his brother.
“Okay Ikey,” Mackie says glumly. “I’ll come get her just before my bedtime.” And
then he turns around and leaves the kitchen. You laugh and then lean your head
against Isaac’s shoulder.
“So, you want to spend some time with me huh?” You ask him picking your head
up and looking up in his eyes.
“Of course I do. You will be leaving soon. I would like to spend as much time with
you as possible.” Isaac looks down at the ground. You can tell he is heartbroken that
you are leaving Saturday morning.
A tear forms in the corner of your eye and you excuse yourself and go to the
bathroom. After cleaning your face, again, you come back into the kitchen and see a
note sitting on the table for you. It reads: Christina, Meet me outside on the porch.
Love, Isaac.
Walking out on the back porch, you find Isaac sitting on the railing, watching the
sun set. You walk up behind him and wrap your arms around him and set your head on
his shoulder. He reaches up and holds onto your arm with his hand. “The sky looks so
beautiful. Doesn’t it?”
He lets out a sigh. “Yeah. “ The hesitates for a moment. “You do know I am going
to miss don’t you?” He turns around and looks deep into your eyes.
“Yes,” you whisper. “I’ll miss you too.”
Isaac takes hold of both of your hands. “I’ll come and visit you as soon as I can. I
promise and we can always call each other and stuff.” He tucks your hair behind your
ear and wipes a tear off of your check.
“It’s just.... it’s so hard. Never I had dreamed I would get a chance to be your
girlfriend.... let alone meet you.” You drift away for a moment. “You promise we can
make this work?”
“I know we can make this work. Look, we love each don’t we? Nothing can get in
the way of our love.”
He pulls you in a gives you hug. I hope nothing will get in the way.
You think to yourself.
