Chapter 25
You wake up in your hotel room and roll over, surprised to see Isaac sitting there
by your side. He was flipping through the channels on the TV and smiled when he
realized that you had finally woken up.
“Hello. How do you feel?” He asks you with concern. Devon nor her family is in
sight.
“I am fine. A little hungry, I guess. Where is Devon?” You ask him, finding it odd
that her family would leave you alone in a hotel with a boy.
“They are at my house. We were going to wake you up, but you were sleeping so
peacefully. Don’t you remember? We had decided to go to my house and have a
dinner, but you wanted a little nap. They left about half an hour ago. I told them I
would stay here with you.”
“Oh, okay. Sounds good. Let me run to the restroom and try to straighten myself
out a little bit.” You roll out of bed and walk into the bathroom.
The first thing you do is look in the mirror and realize you look like a mess. Your
mascara has run, leaving little ugly black streaks down your face. Quickly, you wash
and dry your face, and step out into the room.
“By-the-way, what time is it?” You ask Isaac as he opens the door to the hotel for
you.
“It’s almost 5 o’clock. Mom said that dinner would probably be at about 6 o’clock.
Oh here is your purse, I thought you might want it.” He hands you the purse and gives a
sheepish grin. “Are you sure your okay?” Isaac asks you one more time. “You don’t
have to go and eat if you don’t want to.”
“No, I feel fine. Don’t worry about me. Besides, I am looking forward to meeting
your family.” Isaac wraps his arm around your shoulders as you reach the elevator.
Yeah, so you lied to him a little bit. Kevin was still on your mind and it still felt a little
awkward being with Isaac. But it was something you were going to have to get over.
Kevin always wanted you to be happy. And being with Isaac made you happy. Kevin
had known that.
The two of you step into the car. Not a moment too soon and you would find
yourself at the Hanson household.
