Chapter 20

"So, how did it go?" Devon asks you in a calm voice as she comes in the room.

"It went as good as expected. He didn't take it very well. His temper is uncontrollable you know. I told him I'd call him when I get home. For all I know, he thinks I mean when I get home tonight." You tell Devon as you stare at the floor, a couple tears fall from your face.

Devon walks over and gives you hug.

"Thanks," you whisper to her.

"No problem. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but Mom is ready to leave. She is starving. Can we talk about this when we get back? I promise we will." Devon tells you. You can tell that not only is her Mom starving, but so is she.

"Sure. Besides that, I'm hungry myself." You give her a little smile and walk to the bathroom to wash your face.

Standing in front of the mirror you look at yourself and suddenly realize that you don't know yourself anymore. How did I get into such a mess? You ask yourself. Pondering the question, you get out a wash towel and gently wash your tear stained face off. Before leaving the bathroom, you take one last look into the mirror, the face looking back is a little more familiar, but still seems to be so foreign, and confused.
