Chapter 16

Isaac opens the front door for you. You step in, feeling very comfortable in the house. You notice no one else is at the house. Taylor and Isaac give you a tour of the house. The room you are standing is the living room. Isaac puts his hand on the small of you back and points you in the direction of the stairs. The boys take you upstairs and point out the several different rooms.

"This is our room," Isaac tells you. It’s the first room on the right. You notice it is a mess. And it looks exactly the way they describe it in the magazines.

"Next is Jessie's and Avery's room. Then Mackie's room." Both of these rooms are still on the right of the hall.

"The room clear down at the end is our parent's room. And then on the left, is Zoë’s room. Next is the bathroom." Taylor instructs you.

Then you all four turn and head back to the living room. They show you the kitchen, the family room, the bathroom, the dinning room, and the little practice room filled with guitars off to the side of the living room. Also they take you down to the garage and you see their "studio.” It’s full of instruments and papers.

"That ends our tour. The house isn't very big, as you can see. So what would you like to do?" Isaac asks you. But you have no idea what to tell him.

You end up telling him to pick something to do. He tells you to go into the living room and wait there. He will be there shortly.

Taylor and Devon go into the family room and watch tv. Devon calls her mom to let her know where you are at.

You head upstairs like you were told. You take a seat on the middle cushion of the couch and take notice of the pictures on the coffee table. One, must be of the guys when they were younger. It looks like they are performing. And then there is a picture you notice of Jessie and Avery, or at least you think it is them. They are in their ballet costumes and they look so cute! The third picture is of the whole family, minus Zoë. You see Isaac coming around the corner, carrying his acoustic guitar. He sits it down on the chair and comes over to you and picks up your hand. You stand up. Since he is about 4 inches taller than you, you have to look up into his eyes. He gives you a smile and asks you if you want to go for a walk in the back yard. Of course you do. So he keeps hold of you right hand and picks his guitar up with his right. He guides you to the back door and opens it for you.

You both walk off of the back porch together. He takes you to a little shaded area of the yard and puts down a gold blanket. You sit down on it, close to the edge. It is a very soft blanket and it feels good against your bare legs. He sits down next to you, on your left side. He starts playing a tune on his guitar. No words yet. Then he starts singing these beautiful you have never heard him say before. You quickly figure out that the song is about you. He is describing how he feels towards you and every emotion he has. You are so touched, a tear starts in the corner of your eye and rolls down your check. The whole time he plays, you can't move. You just sit there frozen by what you hear. Watching his every move, he looks so nervous to be playing this for you. The wind blows and his hair is blown into his face. Then he reaches the end of the song. He sits his guitar down behind him and takes his hand to your face and whips away the tear. He then holds on to both of your hands and moves in closer to you. He is now sitting in front of you, 'Indian style,' looking you right in your eye. As he holds your hands, your heart skips a beat. He takes your hands to his mouth and kisses them lightly. Then he looks at you and says.

"I meant every word I said. I love you so Much. I can't do anything without thinking of you. You are always in my mind. Yesterday, even though we first met, it was hard leaving you. You are very special to me. And I want you to have this."

Isaac hands you a silver necklace."This was my Grandma’s and I want you to have it.” You are speechless. You have no idea what to say. Then, just as you are about to speak up he starts to talk again.

"I want to spend as much time with you as I can. And I want to know, if you will be my girlfriend?"

You scoot up closer to him. So close you are almost in his lap. Then you wrap your arms around his neck and bring your head up to his ear. You whisper in his ear "I love you too. And I would be honored to be your girlfriend." Then you lightly kiss him on his cheek.

Isaac leans back against tree and you lean against his chest. He has his arms around you. Cuddled in his lap, you listen to his pounding heart. You and Isaac sit there for quite while. You estimate that you were under that tree for almost an hour, just talking about life in general. You feel really close to him. Closer to anyone you have ever known. You tell him about your life back in Chicago. He is very interested in your family. You tell him about your Mom and how you never knew your Dad, your friends and hobbies. He listens intently to every word you say.

"Looks like a storm is coming," Isaac says to you as he looks at the clouds, "maybe we should head inside?"

"Good idea." You tell him.

Isaac stands up and grabs his guitar. You pick up the blanket and brings it in with your. As soon as you are both inside the door, the rain cuts loose.
