A LITTLE BIT OF CULTURE
OK, so by now you have determined that I'm warped. Is there any other way to be?
Art is one of my passions...I could visit museums adnauseum...staring at the wonderful works on display. My favorite genre of art is Surrealism, which spawned from the DADA movement in the 1920's. DADA was a way of living and thinking which is similar to that of today's punkers. They lived their lives in a rather extreme way, sweeping aside the cultural, political and philosophical norms of their day. For DADAists, art and poetry were simply experiments or momentary concretions of contradictory reality.
Surrealism has also affected society even today. By opening up minds to the impossible, by stretching the boundaries of society, Surrealism changed and defined our culture. The Surrealists attacked the traditional ways of viewing the world and of thinking. In particular, the notion that reason was the preeminent human attribute and that Cartesian principals of order and clarity formed the essential structure of society.
Open up your mind to the impossible...think about things differently. View what is around you, and wonder where it originated from. And how it could be different.
