History of the World, Part I:
1. What's yo' name, boy? boy? shouldn't we wait until after question two? barbara gail wilkie
2. Look down. Are you male or female? female. heaven help any male with a chest like mine.
3. How many years have you graced us with your presence? twenty, born in 1980 for future reference.
4. And what year are you in school? i'm a senior in standing, i've been here three years, i'll be here another one and a half. you pick. here=suny fredonia.
5. Ever been held back in school? nuh uh.
6. Ever been moved ahead a grade? nope. i'm young for my year anyhow.
7. Would you call your hometown a big city or a small town? well, it would either be a really large town or a small city. almost all of long island tends to qualify as a city.
8. Do you know the time of day you were born; what is it? i'm not postitive, but i believe it was around three or four in the afternoon.
9. Has your mother ever told you how difficult/easy your labor was? my mom is too inclined to talk about these things as it is. i'm not bringing it up. i don' t want to know.
10. Was it difficult or easy? see above.
11. Do you have sisters or brothers? one older sister. she's awesome.
12. Any pets? my mom is allergic to everything. we had two fish affairs, but both were disastrous.

13. Do you consider yourself attractive? nope. people deny it when i say i'm unattractive, but they're just being nice.
14. Are you tall/average/short? tallish? i hope. what's average for women again? i'm at least two inches over, i'd bet. but that's not much, is it? (i'm 5'8")
15. If you could change one attribute of your physical looks, what would it be? arrgh. umm, weight loss, i suppose? i could come up with something else, but it would be odd. like unearthing my eyes from their shadowy lair.
16. Ever dyed or highlighted your hair? yup. in high school i dyed my hair red. irritatingly enough, when it grew out i found that my hair was already red.
17. Ever dyed or highlighted your hair in a non-natural color? no. although the whole silver polgara streak is always tempting. oh, and nicole said she'd get me some 24 hour silver stuff. yay. halloween, anyone?
18. Ever dyed or highlighted your hair with markers, Kool-Aid, etc.? nope. didja know that they use the same stuff in kool-aid to dye fabric? i don't want my hair to be permanently purple.
19. Which finger is your favorite? my pointer finger, i suppose. i do my best trills with it.
20. And which of your body parts is your favorite? my wrist, possibly? it's sorta interesting looking for those times when i'm unspeakably bored. ooh! i know! my lungs. they serve me quite well.

22. Would you get plastic surgery? my aunt did. bleh. nasty bad. ick. nooo.
23. Would you if someone else paid for it? it's not the money that's the obstacle. it's my delicate sensibilities.

25. Do you wear glasses or contacts? i used to have glasses in grade school. around fourth grade i boycotted and lo and behold my vision improved. just goes to show you that i was a weirdo as long as anyone can remember.

26. What is the most disgusting food you have ever eaten? last week i drank root beer saturated with salt.
27. Why did you eat it? rich did it. i'm an utter fool. is that reason enough?
28. Do you eat breakfast? not usually. i should, but it's not really convenient with our campus meal plan.
29. Do you eat your vegetables? i really love vegetables.
30. Willingly? heck yes.
31. Even Broccoli? one of my favorites.
32. Without Melted Cheese on it? i don't like melted cheese on veggies. i prefer them straight up.
33. What's your favorite food? my own lasagne? tiramisu, possibly.
34. What's your favorite soft drink? mountain dew. keep it away from me. a hyper barbara is a dangerous barbara.
35. Do you refer to soft drinks as pop? this is actually an enormous debate topic at our school. i don't. three quarters of campus does. western new york people. sheesh.
36. Do you drink milk? sort of. usually chocolate milk. i'd drink two percent at home, but all of the milk on campus is nasty.
37. Did you know that in Spanish milk ads, the new popular slogan "Got Milk?" translates to "Are you lactating?" i think i've heard it before. i just didn't really much care.
38. What's your favorite kind of salad dressing? umm, this is weird, but salsa. yeah. it's good.
39. Do you prefer bacon bits or croutons? can i opt out?
40. Do you have any idea how much fat and cholesterol are in bacon bits? bacon. bleh. i'm not surprised.
41. What's your favorite cereal? i recently discovered golden grahams. mmm. before that i liked special k.
42. Do you buy it for the toy at the bottom? i never bought ones with toys. prolly because we tend to go for either cheerios, corn flakes or generic cereals at home.
43. What is your favorite lunchmeat? i'm passing on meat. i'm going for provolone.
44. Do you pack your lunch, eat fast food, or eat some sort of cafeteria garbage? well, at school it's mostly cafeteria garbage, but we cook at least once a week so that we don't shoot ourselves.
45. Could you be a vegetarian? yeah. i am right now. i don't know how well i'll stick with it. i'm only at three weeks now.
46. Have you ever tried being vegetarian; For how long? yes. about three times in the past seven years. i think my max was a month and a half.

Morals and Ethics and Carnal Forbearance:
47. Do you think you're capable of murder? i doubt it. i'm not terribly violent.
48. Are you for the death penalty? no. i'm definitely against it. it doesn't deter crime and i feel it's morally wrong. the idea of humans deciding who lives and dies bothers me. messing in god's arena.
49. Have you ever been arrested? you're talking to me? the queen of prissiness? of course not.
50. Do you always wear a seat belt? mostly. sometimes i slack when i'm sitting in the back.
51. Have you driven over the speed limit? i'm from long island. if you don't, they try and hurt you. i usually drive the speed limit, but in situations like the long island expressway the socially acceptable speed is five to ten miles over.
52. Gotten caught speeding? nope. not in the sea of L I speeders.
53. Do you touch yourself -- you know, in that no-no spot? i've discussed this with people. most of my female friends see no point. i'm one of them.
54. Ever been caught? nope. when you don't do things, it's unlikely people will catch you doing them.
55. Are you Catholic? nope. i'm supposed to be either jewish or lutheran, but i'm basically working with deism and taoism.
56. Do you believe in God or some sort of Greater Power? yeah. there's at least some superior force or will.
57. Do you pray? hmm. sort of. not in a ritualized format. that makes me uncomfortable. and when i do pray it seems mostly to be selfish. bad me.
58. Have you ever shoplifted; what did you take? when i was five or so i stole a candy bar. my mom caught me, though.
59. Did/do you cheat on homework in high school? i'm way too prudish to cheat. people used to try and cheat off me, and every once in a while i was so oblivious i guess it worked.
60. Did/do you call it "collective learning?" i don't think we talked about it much.
61. Ever black mailed someone? like i'm in any position to obtain knowledge? ha.
62. Have you ever toilet papered/egged/etc. someone's house? nope. this is what i missed by not sticking with soccer. (football, whatever) or at least i know that's what debi got out of varsity soccer. that and exposure to second hand smoke of all types. bleh.

65. Have you ever smoked cigarettes? no no no bad! i'm slightly asthmatic and i'm a flutist. plus it's just nasty.
66. Ever smoked pot? no. like we think i need drugs. what a terrible idea.
67. Ever done any other drugs? i have conniptions about taking aspirin.
68. Have you ever drank alcohol? yes. i don't enjoy it, though.
69. Enough to be drunk? nope. never even been tipsy.
70. On more than one occasion? yeah, but i've quit now. it's been several semesters since i've had anything to drink. now instead i practice. stop teasing me. you people are cruel.

72. Any funny "I was drunk off my butt and did this" stories? no, but the four am "drunken irish christmas songs", essays on "the disnecessity of the letter e" and the "four hundred ninety seven dwarfs" didn't require alcohol.
73. Ever seen a stripper? no, but apparently some of our faculty, including the seventy year old sax prof go with their students. maybe i need to switch studios... =Þ
74. Ever gave some one a strip tease? no, but there was that one birthday party where we kept faking out brian by flashing him behind his back...

76. If they made a movie about you, who would play you? umm. urgh. bleargh. um. i don't have any clue. can anyone tell me?

78. What TV show or movie best describes your life? iron chef? hehe. i've never seen that anyhow. i'm so bad with pop culture questions! oh, how about much ado about nothing?
79. What's your favorite movie? um. monty python and the holy grail? the breakfast club? (i'm such an 80s child) much ado about nothing? i just don' t know.
80. Who did you see it with? i've seen holy grail with at least twenty different people, including my dad once. breakfast club i guess with my sister. much ado i saw with kathryn recently.
81. How much TV do you watch a week? none. when i'm home i sometimes end up sitting in the living room while mom watches unspeakably stupid shows on decorating and gardens, but i don't really watch those anyhow. oh, and oprah. bleh.
82. Do you like to read? oh heavens yes. i eat, sleep and breathe books. my speech patterns have been permanently changed by some authors.
83. What's the best book you've ever read? eeargh. um. i really like douglas adams. i love good omens by neil gaiman and terry pratchett. i enjoyed heart of darkness. i love susan cooper's stuff, but that's from when i was nine. arrggh. these questions are too hard. is there a curve?
84. TV Guide doesn't count. i don't think i've actually ever read one of those.
85. Have you ever met anyone famous? jim swearingen. =Þ bad band joke! bad!
86. Would you like to be famous? no, not really. wouldn't mind extra money, but fame would have no use.
87. Have you ever been on radio or television; When and why? when i was eight or nine i was on a long island network singing one of the four questions at passover.

Do you read the newspaper? not really. i get most information by word of mouth. specifically from jenna, the international affairs major who asks me in a condescending tone, "you mean you didn't hear about the ousting of german chancellor helmut kohl??" to which i reply, "if stalin came back from the dead and blew up poland, i wouldn't know about it!"
89. More than the comics? personally i prefer the crossword puzzle.
90. What's your favorite comic strip? umm, none?
91. Do you save articles/honor rolls/announcements when you're in them? mm. not really.
92. Does your mother save them for you? sometimes. she's still got that national merit finalist thing on the fridge, and that was three years ago.
93. Do you listen to the radio? at home i listen to WLIR. sometimes i listen to it here over the net, but mostly i don't listen to any radio on campus.
94. Ever wanted to be a radio DJ? nah, i don' t think i have an on air kinda personality.
95. Ever been told you have a face for radio? no one says things like that to me. it'd just be odd.
96. What's your favorite song? i'm rather keen on cafe europa by deep forest, quidam by cirque du soleil, lovesong by the cure (or tori amos) and numerous depeche mode songs.

What types of music do you listen to? oh dear. lots of electronic (especially techno and industrial, well, not industrial, but dad sure thinks so ^_^), some new age, some alternative, plenty of classical (largely baroque romantic and really modern minimalistic stuff), jazz, french rap/hip hop and just about everything. i'm not really into country, but i listen to some. i don' t like american rap, but i'll listen to punk and ska and trip hop and pretty much whatever you want to play in front of me.
98. Ever listen (even occasionally) to country music? yeah. not that i put it on, but my neighbors will. i don't object to all of it. just really twangy or really cheesy popular stuff. oh, and i can't take it for more than forty five minutes straight.
99. Ever listen (even occasionally) to rap? tu reconnais bien la style des "bad boys de marseille"? well, you don't, but i do. i really love marseillese hip hop.
100. Why? they have really good lyrics. some touching, some bitingly clever.
101. Have you ever been to a live concert; who did you see? tears for fears, erasure, billy joel and new kids were all ones that i was taken to by relatives. of my own volition i've seen u2. i really want to see some others. i haven't seen any of my most favored groups in concert. sniff sniff.
102. Have you ever been in a mosh pit? nope. wouldn't want to, either. i like my bones.
103. What band has the funniest name? umm. my life with the thrill kill cult and the bomb gang girls?

124. Do they consider you an enemy? i guess we both know that each other's success is dependant on the other's failure. doesn't promote friendship, but i think we might get along, actually.

142. What's your oldest memory? i remember an eye test in pre-school with the wacky sideways and backward Es. and being indignant about having to sing "michael row the boat ashore" because i thought it was religious. (at the age of three or four--i started being obstinate early)
143. What was your favorite toy when you were little? my cuddly. it was a blanket. it was cuddly. yeah, and people say i'm creative.

What was your most embarrassing moment in elementary school? there was the time when i puked milk. there was the whole year or so when i was made fun of for having a boy for a best friend. there was the time when that annoying girl, renee, told me something stupid about stickers and i believed her and she and her friends made fun of me for the rest of the day. there were soooo many.
146. Do you have any bad habits; what are they? i bite my nails. especially when i'm anxious. especially when i'm living with my mother, actually.
147. Tell me about the best pet you ever had. for about a month we had a cat. we had to keep her in the garage because of mom's allergy. we had to give her away anyhow because the cat hair we brought back into the house still set mom off.
148. Who is the one person you know now that you'd like to remember forever? eek. one?? can i go for the jenna/lisa entity at least? i know i'm cheating. one????
149. What one memory do you want to take with you for the rest of your life? oh yeah. when i visited my sister at college years ago. that was one of the nicest ones. i felt so free and so mature for my age. heh, i think that was eighth grade, and when we toured schools earlier in the year, people thought i was looking at the schools, too.

If you could change one thing that happened in the last two years, what would it be? oi. i'd think of a certain really terrible experience during sophomore year, but i grew so much from that. maybe something to fix the whole junior standing thing. or maybe i'd make the decision to double in preformance two years ago. that would have been helpful.
151. If you could go back in time to two years ago, knowing what you know now, would you? definitely. i loved those two years in college, but i really could do with some polishing. especially freshman year. the whole "lack of friends" thing is something i should have looked into sooner.
152. Would you go, not knowing what you know now? probably not. things went relatively well and i wouldn't want to screw them up.
153. What is the bravest thing you've ever done? i think i am pretty brave. i've faced some very frightening things and done so calmly and rationally. i don't know that i can or want to bring up a legitimizing episode right now...
