- CLINCH
- In baseball terms: (v) To win enough games so that no other team can win more; the act of winning one's division.
- CLINCHER
- (n) The game in which one clinches.
Pittsburgh was full of Mets fans who wanted to be in attendence when the Mets clinched their 2006 National League Eastern Division Championship. They didn't get to see it. The Mets led the game, but lost in the 9th inning. It was hard to say if there were more Mets or Pirates fans at the game, but the Mets fans were much louder. The team would return home to clinch two days later. PNC Park itself is the nicest park that I have been to, and is widely considered one of the two best in baseball (SF). |
