LTC Barbara E. Metcalf, served in the 3rd Surgical Hospital, Can Tho, South Vietnam, as the Chief Nurse from 1971 - 1972. She passed away from cancer, at the age of 73, on May 12, 1998.

SGT Ernest Ellsworth Richardson, Sr., was born on May 27, 1902, and served in the 3rd Surgical Hospital. He passed away on March 28, 1962, and is buried in the New Bern National Cemetery, New Bern, Craven County, North Carolina.
