---- Mikey and his Wrestling ----
Hey Yo! The biggest part of my life for the longest time is the world of professional wrestling. I can still remember the first match I saw. I was a lil kid, too little to remember. I was in my parents room watching TV. I flipped threw the channels until I saw this HUGE man standing nose to chest with small man...well he looked small. I caught the late great Andre The Giant battle the "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Since then I was hooked. Infact I was the wrestling fan who was never ashamed to admit it. I was a fan before it got big.
I was a WWF fan. Watching Hulk Hogan, Million Dollar Man, Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior, Bret "Hitman" Hart, the greats of their time. What a great way to escape reality. To watch these superheroes battle these evil men! It was great. I was later introduced to Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). A promotion with the greatest highest spots I ever saw! It showed me a new level of wrestling. And broadened my wrestling horizan. I was growing as a wrestling fan. Becoming the ultimate wrestling fan. Knowing....ALL!
Towards February of last year, I was searching for a wrestling school in central NY. When I came across New Millennium Wrestling. I finally caught a show in April, Spring Beatings. A great show, the greatest wrestling show me or my brother in law ever saw! We were hooked! I ran a fan site called Strictly NMW which helped NMW out so much I got in free and I got to meet a bunch of wrestlers. Until finally being put in charge of the official website, NMW2000.Com. I was very upset to hear in April of the next year that NMW was shut down. No more trips to Rochester. And no SuplexU to go to after High School.
I kept in touch with one of the wrestlers, who I met in person once. But talked to on AOL all the time. And he asked me to run his site. Which I agreed to do. I mean, it's an honor, it's cool, and he is sending me free wrestling tapes! Well NMW is gone. ECW is bankrupt as well. I am now a fan of CZW which is a GREAT promotion. And a new fed is forming in Rochester. So it's gonna be great!
I, like many male kids, was part of a backyard wrestling federation. We were NOTHING like those idiots you see on Oprah. And have tapes and DVDs that are Too Hot for TV. No. WE all knew that wrestling was a staged performance and we took pride in doing that. Determining outcomes. Gimmicks. High spots. All the good stuff. We never bleed. We never broke any bones. We were brutal yes. But only because we liked it that way. The BFC (Brutal Fighting Champions) started back in '96. As years past it became more serious. Thent he summers of 2000-2001 it picked up speed. New members joined. Shows were held more frequently. Gimmicks were solidafied. And the moves became more brutal. From the One Arm Slam Heard Round the World. To each and every chair shot. Frog splashes, DDBs, bulldogs, sleepers. Sensational Larry. Cleveland Ave Thug. T-Style Brutis. Falcon. Lion Heart. The BFC was a hell of a ride.
So wrestling is a big part of my life. And even though I now know the politics and how it works, I still repsect them GREATLY. The injuries are great. The chances are high. All these guys do is entertain us so we can escape from reality for 2 hours. They don't need to put up with the thick headed pricks who can't look past the surface, the asses who just assume, the know it alls who just don't know anything. Don't respect them? Then don't EVER say anything about it around me! Wrestling is still my life. And I respect it greatly!
