ABRIDGED

Regular Meeting – May 21, 2015

The meeting was called to order by President Michael Daly with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for deceased members.

Michael opened by stating that he is impressed with the dedication of the staff who help to make the organization work as well as it does. He also complimented all those who attend the meetings and he made known the fact that our organization is well regarded in the district.

Josephine Serra, our Vice-President, advised us that we will be having pizza and salad when we hold the meetings.

Gladys read the minutes and a motion was made to accept the minutes and they were accepted. Michael asked those present if they knew anyone who would be interested in becoming secretary because Gladys would like to retire from this position.

Michael showed us how to access the website and informed us that there are 700 pages on our website and that recently we almost lost the website. The problem has been straightened out but it was touch and go for a while. He also mentioned that we have had 26,115 visits to our website.

Marie informed us that the Middle Country Retirees’ Associations’ savings account, checking account, and certificates are all doing well.

Michael informed us that he made the presentation of a $1000.00 scholarship on May 14th at Newfield High School. He stated that we are regarded very highly in the district and we are tops amongst the presenters. He added that the audience went wild upon the presentation. He also remarked that the treatment he received from the staff was unbelievably outstanding. He will be making a presentation of a $1000.00 scholarship to Centereach H.S. on May 28th.

Josephine advised that responses are beginning to come in for the luncheon and Michael handed out directions to Boccone’s Restaurant to make it easier for us to locate the restaurant. Josephine added that some additional items would also be included that were not mentioned in the notice that we received. Those items included potatoes, a vegetable and a coffee bar. Music will be played throughout Boccones’ system which helped us save some money by not having to hire someone for this purpose. Michael thanked Josephine for all her hard work in planning the luncheon.

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded.

Respectfully submitted, Gladys Gregnoli-Meier
