MCRA-MINUTES-MCRA

ABRIDGED

Regular Meeting – May 27, 2010

The meeting was called to order by President Michael Daly with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence for deceased members.

Michael welcomed everyone and called on Rose Tysz to read the treasurer's report. The report was read. A motion was made and seconded to approve the report. The report was adopted.

Michael announced that Ed Reynolds would not be attending the meeting because of illness. Also Thelma LeMaire, formerly a secretary at Centereach H.S. and Gwen Salimando's husband passed away.

Michael suggested that we hold another meeting of the finance committee to discuss some suggestions made by membership such as opening another CD, limiting association liability, holding a reorganization meeting in March and granting honorary membership to those in nursing homes.

Michael reported that there has been 16,662 visits to our web site and that membership has reached 390 in eighteen states.

Michael made a suggestion that we organize a trip to Theatre Three to see Dracula on September 23rd. Tickets would e $6.00. It was suggested that we seek approval at the June Luncheon. Anne Bedard mentioned planning another trip to Belmont Race Track in October. It was also mentioned that we would ask those attending the luncheon whether they would like to have music at the December Party.

Michael informed us that the Governor wants to tax Medicare reimbursement monies after we receive them. Membership was encouraged to sign and send a form presented at the meeting to Sheldon Silver, Speaker of the NY State Assembly, asking that the original bargain in our accepting Medicare to save the state money be kept whole.

Michael announced that he is now a member of the Retired Public Employees Association.

Michael described the presentation he made of our scholarship at Newfield High School in which he gave the audience a short overview of the purpose of the association. Upon announcing the amount the reaction of the audience was overwhelming.

Anne Bedard stated that if anyone still something to donate to the Chinese auction he or she could bring it to the June Luncheon early and Anne she would be able to include it.

A motion to end the meeting was made, seconded and approved.

Respectfully submitted,
