The February meeting was called to order promptly at 1:00 PM by President Michael Daly with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our deceased members.
There are no minutes for the January meeting, because we did not have a formal meeting in January, we had a movie and refreshments.
Rose Tysz read the financial report for January 2007. A motion was made approve the report. The motion made was seconded. The report was approved by the membership present.
Michael asked for volunteers to attend the Advocacy Group meetings in place Ed Reynolds. Ed is not available to attend these meetings because he travels out of the area so much.
Michael also asked for anyone able to fill him in on the history of the Middle Country Retirees’ Association from the beginning. Dominick Veraldi was mentioned as one source. Dominick was the original lawyer for the group.
Anne Bedard presented the schedule for luncheon meetings for the next several months. Ruby Tuesdays is the next scheduled stop. Anne also asked members to start getting baskets together for our raffle to be held at our June luncheon. The raffle in December 2006 was a very good fund raiser for our organization.
Our guest speaker for this meeting was Charles Bedard, who went over the various changes for filing income taxes for this tax year. Charles explained the new deductions on the form and gave a hand out with the information for the members.
Carol Kirschner reminded the members that when we will have Melinda, the Physical Education trainer visit our group in March. We will be doing some exercises. Carol recommended the group be prepared by wearing comfortable clothing for that exercises involve
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 2:30 p.m. Motion adopted
