(AT THE HOLIDAY PARTY 2003)
PRE-1989 INSURANCE UPDATE. On December 11, 2003 at our annual Holiday Party, Mr. Ted Adams, the then Superintendent of Schools of the Middle Country Central School District, informed those present that on the previous evening the Board of Education, on his recommendation, unanimously passed a resolution that all those employees who retired, up to and including June 30, 1989, would now have their medical coverage paid 100% by the district. There will no longer be a cap applied each year on the total premium to be paid for this group. This resolution will be executed and Mr. Adams believes there will no longer be a problem. He understood that the district had made a promise that was not kept. Individuals involved received a letter stating that the district will keep its promise to pay 100% of their medical coverage. His hope was that we would all support our Board of Education in the future.
IMPORTANT Membership was advised and did, in fact, respond to the letter they received from the Superintendent of Schools of the Middle Country Central School District regarding their health insurance. They read the letter over carefully, acted on the instructions given and signed the new contract and returned it immediately to the District.
.... Additionally, the Superintendent mentioned that the Medicare reimbursement being paid on an annual basis would be reviewed to see if a better arrangement can be made in the future. Possibly semi-annually.
As promised by following Superintendent of Schools, Mr Leonard Adler, that the promise of review was carried out by one of the assistant superintendents at his direction.
The semi-annual arrangement promised is currently (2006 - 2007) being carried out.
Once again Middle Country Schhol District has demonstrated its good will towards its retirees. MCRA congradulates those invoved, past and present.
