Currently membership stands at 397 IN 21 STATES. A membership drive is now underway for the year 2013-2014.
Annual dues for the year September 1, 2014 to August 30, 2015 are established at $15. Monies so collected are used to defray operating expenses as approved by membership: paper, labels, envelopes, stamps, annual membership cards, printing of the membership directory (every 2 years) and support for MCRA's Scholarship Program (two $1,000 scholarships: Newfield and Centereach HS). Remaining monies are added to MCRA's accounts for possible legal needs as they develop over time.
Of particular interest to membership is our recently launched Web site: http://www.ange1fire.com/ny5/mcra. Among the features included therein are a message from the president, the monthly agenda for meetings, plans for our yearly luncheon (JUNE), the MCRA Constitution, the Association's Suggestion Box, Web rules for the operation of site, the MCRA Hall of Fame (list of scholarship recipients), Birthday Greetings, Wall of Remembrance honoring deceased members, Feed Back Hotel, Picture Place, Guess What Page(upcoming events), Culture Corner, Medicare News, Membership Roster, Information on Elder Law, Games for Fun, History Page, Publication Place, Membership Application Form, Contest Opportunities, MCRA Poll, Happiness Hill, (health matters), Annual Holiday Party (December) News and Social Security Information. Best of all, the Web site provides over 50 opportunities for membership and the Association to interact with one another over the Internet from any state whatever. Membership is of course encouraged to visit the Web site frequently as a method of keeping up with the activities of one of the most dynamic associations in the State of New York!
MCRA is a powerful force in its community. Strong in membership, possessed of a clear view of purpose, endowed with a diverse and talented membership and ready to roll up its sleeves to meet the challenges before it, membership is ready to "rock and roll".
Most fun can be had by attendance at the monthly meetings, which take place on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Public Library 575 Middle Country Road, Selden, N.Y. 11784 (631) 585 9393. Meetings start promptly at 12:00 and end just as promptly at 1:00 PM.
