“I Remember Dad”
By: Martha Duke Manley

The way that you worked the soil and made your garden grow.
The beautiful color and fragrance of each “rose,”
caught everyone’s  attention, as they would come and go.

The way that you sat so erect on your fine horse.
As the two of you rode out on your daily course.

The way that you worked.
You had a good business mind.
And how you would try to help others, from time to time.

And even though we would occasionally disagree,
there was one thing that we knew would always be.
Yes, I Remember Dad,
how we could see easily,
how much you loved this family!

Love, your daughter
