Congratulations on deciding to add a Cardigan Welsh Corgi to your family. We like to get to know a person and the living conditions where a Cardi will be, before we commit to sending a new puppy home with a family.

1.  Why did you decide on a Cardigan Welsh Corgi?

2. What do you expect this dog to be?

Pet? For whom?                             

Showing?

Companion for another pet?

Herding?

3. Are you aware that Cardigan Welsh Corgis have a double coat? And they shed heavily twice a year? Did you know that a housedog sheds almost constantly (due to climate control)? Do you know they need to be brushed regularly? At least twice a week?

4. Do you own your house?

5. Do you have a fenced yard? If not, are you willing to fence your yard? Or put up a fenced enclosure?

6.  Do you rent? Does your landlord allow pets?

7. All our companion dogs are sold on spay/neuter agreements and AKC Limited Registration. No exceptions.

8. What will you do with this dog if you move?

9. Does your occupation(s) include transfers (to another state or country)?

10. Do all members of the household know you plan to get a Cardi? Are they all agreeable? Why or why not?

11. Do you currently have any animals and what kinds (if no, see 13)?

12. Are your pets vaccinated against disease? How often?

13. Have you had pets in the past? (How many, what kind, breeds, how long did you have them? What happened to them? )

14. What previous experience do you have in training a household pet? Housebreaking? Basic obedience?

15. What training methods will you use to handle potential problems like chewing, whining, barking etc.?

16. Who will be responsible for the daily care of this dog? What happens if s/he doesn't follow through?

17. Do you have children? How many? What ages?

18. Is anyone in your household allergic to animals?

19. Will this be an indoor or outdoor pet?

20. Will an adult be home most of the day?

21. Are you aware that veterinary care, food and housing can run about

 $ 350 to $ 450 per year for the average dog? (This is without major illness or accident).

22. Are you willing to obtain proper medical care for this dog, such as heartworm checks and preventatives etc.?

23. What will you do with this dog when you go on vacation?

24. It is in our sales contract that this dog is returned to us (NOT bought back!) if you can no longer keep it - do you have a problem with that?

25. Will you allow us to visit occasionally?

26. Do you object to keeping in touch with us?

27. Who is your Veterinarian? Can we have the name and telephone number?

28. Do you object to using a crate for housebreaking?
