So what's your name? Kevin O'Brien
You got a nickname? Yeah, most a' the people 'round 'ere call me Rider.
Okay, so how'd you get that nickname? On account that I jockey at Sheepshed Races. I been ridin' since I was six so when I started ta become friends wit' the jockeys at the races, dey let me ride. One a' the rich guys who owned some horses saw me ride and was impressed, so 'e hired me. Now I ride in the aftahnoons and sell the evenin' papes.
Do you know your age or birthdate? Yeah, I'm 19. Born December 10th, 1880.
And for those of use who don't see to good could you tell us what you look like? I'm VERY short, about 5'1" and VERY light as far as me weight goes, like most jockeys. I got sandy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Got some frekcles on me nose and a scar on me left cheek from a knife fight I got in when I foist came ta Brooklyn and was woikin' in the factory.
What about your personality? I'm pretty mellow 'bout most everythin'. Don't got much of a tempah, got a lotta patience, and I'm understandin'. I try to heah people out 'fore I go pointin' a fingah. I ain't very loud like me sistah, but I do talk though, not like Black Star or nothin'.
*peers at you* You carry any weapons? Nah, just me fists.
You got a past? Shoah, we all do aftah all. I was raised in Santa Fe 'till I was 15 when me parents died, then I came back ta New Yawk with me sistah, but she ran off so I started woikin' the factories in Brooklyn. When I turned 16 I started jockeying and selling papes in the evenin' and I moved inta the Lodging House. Been 'ere evah since.
Family? friends? Enemies? Family, all gone 'cept me sistah Ste- er, West O'Brien in Lower Manhattan. Shoah I got friends, Racetrack Higgins for one since 'e's got such an interest in racin'. And then Spot Conlon's been a good friend a' mine since I came to New Yawk in 1895. Not many enemies, not any worth mentionin' anyway.
Anybody you romaticaly involved with? Ain't got the time for a goil at this point in me life.
Anything intelligent to add? Yeah, if you'se gonna bet on a horse race at Sheepshed, bet on Panama Jack, that's me horse *grins*
