This Months' Featured Lure!

For this months' lure we stay in the borough of Brooklyn for a lure made by a little know company called Kenden. This lure is a beautiful greenscale colored Flaptail, with a  vamp style body. (Thanks Paul). Made around (circa) 1950,  Kenden flaptails were made in three colors that I've personally seen. Greenscale, Redscale and a Bluescale. Two body styles were made, the vamp pictured here and the sloped head body pictured below which probably dove a little deeper. Like all the other lures previously featured, it was made for Striped Bass fishing. That's the common theme all these plugs had, they were made to catch that beautiful coveted fish (Roccus Lineatus)     "The Striped Bass". In the coming weeks you will see the lures made by all the other companies in the New York City area from the late 1940's and early 1950's for catching stripers. A lot of the body styles are similar and were probably made by the same jobber/craftsman. Even the paint patterns had a common theme, with only the actual colors and scale patterns being different. My good friend Frank Pintauro has another Kenden lure that is a jointed popper in bluescale in the original box with the Kenden logo on it. It's the only box I've seen with their name on it and these are the only body styles that I'm aware of.
