In the last five months there have been a lot of auctions for saltwater lures and I've tried to include a sampling of the most interesting ones. Prices seemed to have increased some on the more common items and rare early pieces are selling with even higher prices. Add a few new collectors in the mix and you have a very strong market. Like I've said in the past, there just isn't much saltwater stuff turning up from the field so the competition in auctions is tough. But if you keep your eyes open and check the listings you can still find a few things that others might miss. I wasn't that lucky this time around but a few people were.

The first auction was for a nice new in the box Stan Gibbs GTS-3 Trolling Swimmer in tough yellow color. This one was sold in July and brought $57.00 for the seller. That was a great price for the lucky winning bidder on this hard to find colored swimmer. It's pictured below.

Second up and also sold in July was a Masterlure Snook model swimmer in rainbow color and in EX-EX+ condition according to the seller. The lure sold for the sum $490.00. A beautiful lure at a great price for the seller.

Third up in July was a factory display card filled with Pt. Jude Pop-A-Long wood and plastic Model PP200 lures. This was the first time I've seen a card like this up for auction. Probably from the 1970's it sold for $304.99. There was also another card sold by the same seller with seven of their wooden lures displayed and it sold for only $66.00. Both were nice pieces of saltwater history and are pictured below.

Fourth up and from the month of August is another Masterlure. A nice red and white jointed swimmer it sold for $292.51. Although it was in the wrong box it still brought a nice price for the seller.

Next up were two Lido lures, a flaptail and a metal lipped swimmer that were listed as two glass eyed musky lures. These got by everyone and sold for only $27.01. Both looked to be in almost excellent condition and not fished much if at all. Wow, what a great buy for the winning bidder.

There was also another auction with a Pt. Jude Capecodder lure that wasn't identified by the seller and it sold for only $11.01. I had this bait on my watch list and was caught napping. Oh well, congratulations to the lucky winning bidder.

Next up is another Masterlure. A small Plopper in blueflash or blue-spray color and in the original box it sold for $204.50. This was a third generation Masterlure made by Seneca Tackle Co.

Next up is a all black plastic Atom in the original box. This tough colored piece sold for $208.49. Plastic and wooden Atoms have been going through the roof in price lately. These used to be an affordable lure to collect but now there are a lot of new collectors competing for them and the prices have steadily increased.

Next is a nice Cap'n Bill swimmer that was new in the original box. A beautiful swimmer in Cap'n Bills Blue Fish Flash #5 color it sold  for $53.56. Early Cap'n Bills are underrated and are a steal at this price when they come in their original green boxes.

Next up is a wooden Striper Atom swimmer in blue herring color. This is a early model in the original intro style box with paperwork. It sold for $226.50. Looks like a nice piece.

Next up is a nice Floyd Roman Dart-N-Dart that was made by Reeal Lures, Three Rivers, Mass. It's in the correct original box and sold for $137.29. That's a good price for this pretty lure in new condition. Another Dart-N-Dart in eel color sold for $130.00.

Next up is a Kris Conn. Yankee in the original box that sold for $76.00. These are pretty tough, don't come up for auction too often and usually sell around this price.

Next up is a very rare J & H Wob-Lit that was made in Wollaston, Mass. It sold for $340.00 and was only in about very good condition. Nice tough piece.

Next we have another rare lure made by Kenden's Products in Brooklyn, NY. This jointed popper in mullet color and in the early logo box sold for $817.50. Wow!

Next is another rare lure made by Pt. Jude Baits. Called the Clipper, it came in their early white colored box and it also had the original paperwork included. Selling for $865.00 I bet the seller was quite surprised.

Next is a Fishmaster Bass Aqua in the original box that sold for $204.05. These are tough to find in nice condition. This one looks to be excellent and a good buy.

Next is a tough red/black colored Cap'n Bill lure that came in a later labeled box that was actually a Howard's Jet Plug box that was probably acquired by Cap'n Bills when Howard Ledig went out of business. Selling for the price of $330.00, that's got to be a record for a Cap'n Bill.

Next is a second generation Blue Streak in a early box marked E & E Tackle. This new in the box lure sold for $345.67. Nice lure/tough box.

And last up we have a Stinky Atom in the original marked box that sold for an astonishing $382.00. It had the original bottle of scent and also the paperwork although it is not pictured. This has to be another record for a plastic saltwater lure.

That's it for now!
