Lou Lazzaro's Memorial Page

~ MEMORIAL SERVICE MAY 6, 2000 ~

All the pictures seen on this page only do a small part to capture the grief, saddness, memories and heroism at the memorial for Louie. Many tears were shed along with the fondest memories reflected on, that anyone could ask for in a lifetime. All came away carrying a Big part of Louie home in their hearts and minds.

The Victory Square was painted with the number 4 in honor of Louie.
This is a banner that I made in the 70's when they use to have banner night. The car was drawn by Brian Grisel. He also drew the car that was used on the t-shirts and jackets for Louie's fan club at the same time.
Another banner made the following year. Louie lived up to the Super Star image for Fonda Speedway in more ways than one.
This is the last time for Louie's car to be hauled into the speedway.
Ken Gates putting a 4 sticker on his car in honor of the Legend! The stickers were given to the drivers by Dave and Jackie Lape!
Phalan Hart had his own memorial painted on his car to honor Louie.
All the drivers, Lou's family and friends gathered around Victory Square for the memorial service held at the start of the race program.
Pastor Wells speaking at the service.
Ric Lucia speaking at the service. He too, thanked Louie for being his Hero & Friend.
Announcer Jim King speaking about Louie at the service.
Mimi with Max and Pup on the 4 in Victory Square just before the service began.
Mimi and one of the dogs by the floral arrangement made in honor of Louie.
Mimi taking it all in just before the service.
Jim King giving Mimi some comfort and support during the service.
Mimi using Louie's helmet during the collection the drivers took up for the Lazzaro family. The Wonderful Fans at Fonda donated over $4000.00.
Lou's car taking the 30th lap of the feature.
Louie's car going under the checker flag for the last time. This makes it 6 decades of wins for him. We all know that if God had given him the chance he would have done it on his own.
Jr Bianco hauling the car on to Victory Square for the last time. Jr. and Louie have been friends and partners for almost 50 years.
Louie's children on Victory Square accepting the trophy. The sign will hang at the track in honor of Lou as Fonda Speedway retired the number "4" in the modified division. Peter, Danny, Louie, Frannie, Lori and Mimi.
More of the family and friends accepting the trophy.
The last Victory Crew picture.
Mimi with a banner that was made for the memorial night. It was given to her after the races.
