Jibril is one of the seven Great Angels, commander of the order of Cherubim, and she is also one of the Four Elements. She is the angel of water. She was a powerful voice in heaven opposed to Sevothtarte, but he dealt with her by sealing her away in a coma induced by his needles, and imprisoned her in the Water Garden. As a further safeguard against her meddling, he also separated her soul from her body, and sent it to be reborn on earth to watch over the soul of Alexiel through the cycle of her rebirth. The final incarnation of Jibril’s soul was as Mudou Sara, and she has no memory of her life as an angel.
Jibril – This is the Arabic name of the angel Gabriel whose name, in Hebrew, means “God is my strength”. He is one of the highest ranking angels in heaven and, with Michael, one of only two angels named in the Old Testament. He is the angel of annunciation, of resurrection, of revelation, of mercy, and of vengeance. He is also the angel of water and of the 9th sephira, Yesod (foundation), and has dominion over the moon. Angelic ruler of the 1st heaven, Shemayim, Gabriel presides over Paradise, but he is also said to sit at the left hand of God. It was Gabriel who supposedly destroyed the sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and Gabriel who announced to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit. He is also named by some as the angel who wrestled with Jacob at Peniel, though Michael, Uriel, Khamael, and Samael are also named. It was also the angel Jibril who revealed the Qur’an, chapter by chapter, to the prophet Muhammad. Upon seeing the angel’s true form, the prophet is said to have fallen back in shock, so great was his splendour. It is said that, on the Last Day, the angel Gabriel with blow his horn to signify the end of the world.
