5:45 PM
Ahhh! What a great day! Except that my bread from the bread machine didn't turn out so well. I haven't used it in a while, and I forgot I need to add 1/4 cup more liquid than any recipe calls for with this machine. I don't know why, but if I don't, it doesn't do well.
I DID go for a walk. And it was beautiful, fresh, and bracing...well darn cold, actually. The footing wasn't too bad, so I was able to make about 1 1/2 miles. Then I came home and vacuumed. It took me just about all day, but I got under things, behind things, and between things I haven't been able to get under, behind and between for years because I haven't had any attachments.
Our carpets are old, 70's type shag, and the last sweeper I had kept catching in the loops and pulling them out, leaving strings all over the rugs. This cleaner grabs those strings and winds them up neatly all around the agitator brush. I had to stop every so often to unwind two foot lengths of carpet. I hate these carpets, anyway, so maybe after a few more vacuumings they'll be bald.
I attacked the old plush loveseat of my grandmother's where the old upholstery had defurred Rascal every time she sat on it. I tried to cover said loveseat with plastic, but she would wiggle around until her little fat bottom was on the plush. I tried to keep it clean, but nothing would remove that cat hair. UNTIL THE GRAY TORNADO CAME TO TOWN! The little power brush that fits on the end of the hose just eats up that hair, and you can see the original, faded, burgundy scratchy upholstery.
I have to say that the old carpets look pretty good. The Gray Tornado makes the shag sit up and take notice, and it actually LOOKS clean. With the old sweeper, about all I accomplished was to break more shag loops; it never looked like I had vacuumed.
I didn't get to this glory hole we refer to as the "sunporch", or the back room, or the computer room. That will take a whole day all by itself. But the main rooms look good, and there are clean sheets on my bed, and a pot roast in the oven for DB. All-in-all, a very satisfying day.
Life is good...and cleaner. Thanks be to God. Amen
7:55 AM This is how good intentions get lost. I planned to begin today with vacuuming, but it is so pretty outside, with the sun turning everything pink, that I am going to take a walk, first. It is very cold, so it will entail warm clothes, hat, mittens and boots; hardly worth it, but I am going to try it anyway!
