The Bars

Johnny O's

Julia's and my favorite bar, and our usual hangout even if everyone else went bar-hopping. Home to our favorite bartenders (JJ, Matt, Ben, and Nick), David the DJ (my personal favorite employee, especially after he "lei'd" me!), and a cute new door guy. Even if the kid that worked the back door irritated us every night by clapping as he was kicking us out after last call, it was still our favorite, and a regular hangout for our JGSM buddies and a large number of AEM majors.

Julia and me on one of those nights it got 100+ degrees inside the bar... the nights when we were glad we were regulars because the line to get in could take 30 minutes otherwise Sonali, Pauline, Esra, Tawania, and me... They met up with Julia and I after Casino Night -- check out the blinking antennae they got!

Bear Lodge

Home of the $1.50 well drinks/$0.50 drafts Wednesday night special and $1.50 wells for Monday's Ladies' Night, and the place to be for the NCAA, Stanley Cup, and other sports' finals. This was our permanent home after graduation, when Johnny O's closed its doors until July.

The Block Parties

Pretty much the thing to do after last call at the bars... it was all really organized, so each night was a different street. Fairly reminiscent of the block parties first week of freshman year, except these were more about seeing people than drinking -- in fact, drinks were pretty much nowhere to be found. We ran into lots and lots of people we hadn't seen in a long time and that we didn't get a chance to see again. And some people got arrested ;)

Senior Week Events

The Twilight Cruise: Monday May 19
Julia and Esra were the only ones who ended up going. Well, they were the only ones who wanted to go besides me, and the tickets sold out before I got one :( I didn't hear too much about how it went except that they went a little cheese-cube-happy!

Cayuga Wine Tour: Tuesday May 20

Julia and I arrived at the CTA bright and early Tuesday morning -- I was still hungover, but she was smart enough to not go to afterhours the night before. We stopped at the Hosmer, Goosewatch, and Swedish Hill wineries. We were promptly buzzing by about 11am after the first stop, and with the exception of our hot friend who shares his name with a dictator, we bought the most wine on the trip. We left with 11 bottles total: I bought a red and white at each stop, she bought one at each stop, and we were all given a free bottle at the end of the tour. We almost made it the 20 minute walk home with all the bottles -- we had one casualty at Baker Flagpole on the way!

Senior Formal: Wednesday May 21

I think this was everyone's favorite night... Julia, her friend Stephen from Boston, and I stopped by Bear Lodge to pregame. We didn't end up making it to the formal until about 11:45 -- just in time to take some pictures of old friends and new friends and head out to the terrace for the midnight champagne toast. At about 12:05, we all collectively decided to head back to Bear Lodge. So all in all, Julia, Stephen, and I paid about $1 for every minute we were there! But it was fun -- we got free glow necklaces and Stephen stole us all balloons and we saw some people we hadn't seen in years. The bar was super crowded by the time we got back, and everyone's feet hurt (mine were even bleeding!), but lots of key people were there! Picture chaos ensued...
