Prologue

Space Marshall Graham stared at the communique from a GG informant. He was more surprised at Commander Porterfield's support of the rebellion beginning to grow against GG than he was of the rebellion itself. He thought that Elizabeth Porterfield's son would defend Galaxy Garrison's actions, perhaps even find a way to stop the rebellion of the Alliance planets. The last thing Graham expected from him was a betrayal. Though he didn't say it right out, his presence at Princess Allura's side was enough to convince Graham that Porterfield could no longer be relied on.

He did not know how to deal with this sudden uprising. He knew that they were wrong in not informing all the planets of their plans, but he wasn't about to let them know that. At the time, it seemed the best course of action. There were too many leaks. They couldn't risk letting Doom know their plans, ill-fated as they were.

He sighed deeply, a sound that only a man who carried a thousand burdens on his shoulders could make. Their silence was the worst mistake in the universe. Graham had to admit that he agreed with it at the time, but after some thought, he could see that it was too risky. They had been too confident of their victory, of the strength of the White Fleet to see that Zarkon's fleet was just as large, bigger in fact. Millions of lives had been lost and it was their fault.

Yet he still believed in the integrity of Galaxy Garrison. They were still the heart of the Alliance and he would not let a misguided Princess to take that away from them. The Alliance leaders had entrusted Galaxy Garrison in managing the affairs of the war and this uprising was uncalled for. The leaders had to trust them because without GG, they would just be a bunch of factions without a leader, a core.

"Lewis," he said, pressing a button on the intercom. "Call the heads of each department. I want to have a priority one meeting in half an hour. Tell them it's an emergency. We have a crisis in our hands."
