Dragon Khan, the coaster with the most inversions, 8, Port Aventura, Salou, Spain

Dragon Khan, built in 1995 by B & M is a beautiful sight to photograph. When it opened it was the oly coaster in the world with 8 inversions, (now Monte Makaya by Intamin in Brazil also has 8 inversions), but Drgon Khan is still the coaster tied with the most loops. It's height is about 160 ft. and it's first loop is 110 ft. tall! When you get to the top of the lift hill and see the first loop yousay to yourself "There is no way in hell we can go around that loop with this hill!", sut you do, and it is great! Following the loop there are a series of inversions, a Cobra Roll (2 inversions), a barrel roll, a corkscrew, a heartline flip, another vertical loop, and a diving loop (not in that order, you get too confused on the ride). But this ride is amazing. I recomend looking at the last picture link at the bottom of the page, it's a really good pic!

But Dragon Khan is only one of the Coaster Greats here. Two new coasters were built at Port Aventura this year, Stampida and Tomahawk. The two coasters go together, Stampida (spanish for stampede), is a double tracked wooden racer by CCI that incorporates a twisting track and a few "head on collision illusions", and Tomahawk is a wooden kiddie coaster, that runs inside Stampida, so the two big tracks, and the kiddie coaster race at some points during the ride. Little kids can race with their older brothers and sisters, and trust me folks, this is one twister piece of wood coaster we're talking about here. Look at link #5 (A HUGE pic of Stampida). On the Internet wooden coaster poll this ranked as the #8 coaster, and Tomahawk placed VERY well considering it's a kiddie coaster (around 40 or 135!). Stampida ran into some probs this year so it ran only about half the season, because an obese man was riding it, and he flew out of the train and got hurt, so much of the season the park was testing out new restraints for the coaster.

Home sweet home
