Riverside Cyclone

It's big. It's white. And it will turn your stomach into a demented pretzal. Yes, it's the world famous Riverside Cyclone at Riverside Park in Agawam, Mass. First let's talk about the park. I went my first time on a crisp April day in 1996, and when I say crisp I mean cold! And me and my friend Bill were stupid enough to go on the Log Flume 3 times! What gooberheads we were! (It was his idea). Since we went to the park on such a cold day, there was no one there. The park was really fun because we could get in so many rides. As soon as we walked in we ran to the 1941 Riverside Thunderbolt, a real classic! This was a lurchy, fun, fast, ride. 60 secs. for over 2,800 feet of track! And it's only 70 feet high! This would've been the best ride there be it no Cyclone. But it came close. The park was nice and well landscaped and well laid out, but there's no WAY I'm going to believe this place is 165 acres like they say it is. That number must include the huge (empty) parking lot. Riverside has a lot of traditional feel and atmosphere to it, the carousel was beautiful! Next we headed for the Black Widow coaster, on the oposite part of the park. We only rode this one once because of technical dificulties on the ride. My friend and I were the 4th group in line, after a little waiting one of the groups infront left, then another, then another, so we got to ride front car. The Black Widow is an unusually slow arrow forward/backward looper. The ride was enjoyable, but they closed down the ride after a while. Then, finally we headed toward the white beacon that was calling to me. The Cyclone! No line. That was awesome. We hopped on and headed up the lift. The train stopped for 5 min. on the lift. What happened? Who knows? Every ride there broke down that day. But, soon we were up to the top and started our ride. The first drop was so incredibly steep, but the unusual part is the coaster is 107 ft. tall, and the drop is only 70 ft. you then head into a tight upward curve, and a quick down hill and up a large, steep up hill. After a helix 90 ft. in the air the thing goes totally wild! You don't know what you're doing or where you're heading it was confusing, but fun, and the airtime and lat. G's were out of this world! You must ride this coaster! It rocks! Ratings from 1-10 Thunderbolt 7, Black Widow 4, Cyclone 10! Thank you William Cobb for giving me my favorite coaster!
