Day 25
Thursday January 4, 2018
We were up bright and early today to get ready for the long journey back to NY. Unfortunately our connection has been canceled. Now to figure out what to do.
After some e-mails we were automatically rebooked by American Airlines. We'll be on the red eye tomorrow night and getting home Saturday morning.
Now we need a place to stay for 2 nights where I don't need to play a ton in order to preserve our small gains for the trip. The first thought was Dee's January offer from the Tropicana. I gave them a call and they had no offers available but did offer me rooms for $39/$59 plus tax and resort fees. Uh no, eff you.
Next thought was my offer from Caesars Entertainment. I have an offer from their Total Rewards Magazine for up to 5 nights, $100 free play and $50 food. I went online and booked this for 2 nights so we'll be moving there later this afternoon.
Now that we didn't have to go home we chilled out in the room and got a little more rest before totally packing and getting ready for the move.
For breakfast we went to the Hawthorne Grill. We both had the mini buffet. Compared to the regular prices on the menu this is the way to go.
We came up to the room to grab our things, then to the valet to get the car and we were on our way out of Rampart.
We took the drive over to the Rio to check in. Things went well here. We were assigned room 1620 in the Ipanema tower. This is a non smoking room with queen beds, night stand, couch, coffee table, TV, and work desk. It has a Palms/Gold Coast view and you can see Summerlin and the Rampart/Marriott we just left. The bathroom has a short vanity outside and pedestal sink inside with a standard tub/shower combo and toilet.
After I checked in I went to the Total Rewards Center to see if there were any tickets available to see WOW. They were sold out of diamond tickets so we won't be doing that.
We threw our things into the room got settled in only unpacking the things we'd need for this short stay.
To preserve bankroll Dee decided to read in the room and I went to the Pinball Hall of Fame again. You can't go wrong with this for an afternoon of fun.
For dinner we went to South Point to see Jimbo, Katy and Alicia one more time. We went to the coffee shop there and I had lemon chicken off their Chinese menu. Dee had spaghetti. We had a good time visiting for a few hours and then we headed out.
On the way back to the Rio I gassed up the car and we stopped at Jack in the Box and got a couple of milk shakes that we didn't really need. We also took the scenic route back by driving down the strip. We were in no hurry and traffic was slow so we got to see quite a bit.
We came back to the Rio and took it easy for the rest of the night with some TV then sleep.
