Day 22

We were up early today and finished packing up our things. A check of our flight on AA.com showed a 30 minute delay. That sucks but I'd rather know before I got to the airport and we do have a 3 hour lay over in Philly so it will be that much shorter.
We headed out of Rampart and down to the Strip. I gassed up the car and then we were on our way to the rental car center to return the car. Everything was in order with this and things went smoothly.
From here we boarded the shuttle bus back to the airport. The ride there was uneventful and we were at the terminal in no time.
Checking in was a bit chaotic but we got through it without issue. Dee was also issued a boarding pass with TSA pre check on it.
Next up was security and things here were absurd. Since Dee had pre check she flew through even with her wheel chair. My computer bag got held up but it was behind 2 other people that also got pulled to the side. In my case it was the players cards that were in there and caused the bad to be pulled. The first guy that was complaining he needed to get going to catch his flight was a total asshole. The agent opens his bag and pulls out a ½ gallon of Orange Juice, a liter of water and a soda. You fucking asshole. How many signs are posted and how many times did the agents say not to bring drinks through the area? Then the next guy who was also bitching he needed to move get his stuff so he could make his flight tells the agent he's got a bottle of water in his bag. Are you fucking kidding me?
From here it was onto the gate where we just waited for our flight to start boarding. The gate agent tagged Dee's wheelchair and moved our seats from the back to the front of the cabin so Dee wouldn't have to walk as far.
When it was time to board Dee pre boarded and we made it back to our seats in row 6. This is American Airlines Flight 734. It's scheduled to depart at 10:35am and arrive in Philadelphia at 6:14pm with a 4 hour and 39 minute flight time. We found out the 30 minute delay wasn't anything other than the flight crew got in late last night and needed to have the proper amount of down time before flying again. The captain came on the PA and said it was going to take 4:00. During the flight he also came on again and said we had an 80 knot tail wind and despite the late departure we would still land at our original time.
I slept a good way home and then passed the time playing on my tablet. I wish all of the flights were just 4 hours in total. It would make the trip to and from Vegas a lot better.
We landed in Philly at 6:15pm. We had close to a 3 hour lay over so when we landed we just took our time getting off the plane and transferring to terminal F where our flight was going to depart from.
Since we were in Philly I got a cheese steak at Tony Luke's. They make a good sandwich and it wasn't terribly priced considering it was an airport location. Dee got an original smash and smash fries at Smashburger. This was the first time we ever had one of those and it was pretty good. She said she prefers Five Guys to this though.
We had finally passed the 3 hours and it was time to board the flight home. This is a smaller puddle jumper plane with 2 seats on one side and one of the other. We got on first and got to seats 8B & 8C. This is American Airlines flight 4900 scheduled to depart Philly at 9:05pm and arrive in Newburgh at 10:02pm. This flight rarely takes as long as they schedule it for. The captain said it was going to take 38 minutes because he lived in Newburgh and wanted to get home to his dog!
We got into the terminal and waited for the luggage to arrive. It took forever to come out which was bullshit since there were only about 30 bags and this whole airport is smaller than most terminals at other airports. I found a place for Dee to sit while I walked down to the plant to get the car. It was a bit chilly but not too bad. I was on my way back to the terminal in a few minutes. I picked up Dee and the suitcase and we were on our way.
We pulled into the driveway at 11:00pm as the Christmas Birthday trip came to an end.
