Day 12
Sunday December 23, 2001

OK, I slept late today even though I had hoped I wouldn’t. After I got ready I went out to make a few stops. The first was to go to K-Mart and grab a few items. Next stop was for gas and the third stop was Sam’s Town to check in. I’m not staying here tonight but I am checking in. The main reason for this was I had already changed my reservation a couple of times and each time I did it something got screwed up. Instead of letting that happen I figured it would just be easier to check in.

Anyone that knows my history from reading various discussion boards and my older reports knows that I am a former (and based on mail offers a current) gold cardholder at Sam’s Town. The gold card is the equivalent to full RFB. This was until they changed their comp policies and now require nearly triple the action to get the gold card. I vowed not to return other than to use up old comp dollars that were used to book these rooms. During the past year the mail offers have gotten quite good again. I got a New Years offer that is good for 4 nights and a gold card. So, I have 8 nights booked here, 4 from old comp dollars and 4 from this mail offer. They won’t be getting any play at all during the first 4 nights but then I will earn my keep while I am RFB, but only with moderate play. Not the heavy play I used to give them.

When I arrived there were actually people in the check in line. This was a first to me since normally there isn’t anyone in line when I check in. A few minutes later I was on my way to room 816. It has a park view. The rooms at Sam’s are all the same. They have a basic bathroom, small closet, 1 king bed or 2 queens, a dresser, nightstands, table and chairs and a TV. There’s nothing wrong with the rooms here but it sure is going to suck moving to this little standard room after being in these nice suites for the last week!

I brought some of my stuff with me to put in the room at Sam’s to make tomorrow’s move a little easier. After I got all that stuff settled in I was on my way back to the Suncoast.

I played some more triple play bonus poker in both quarters and half-dollars. I didn’t have the luck I had yesterday and lost $100. To kill a little time I played some more of the game Checkers. I don’t do too badly on this and it’s a slow paced game. It’s a good time killer when playing for nickels.

I cashed out even and went up to the room to change my clothes. I have plans on meeting Gary, CC, and Vegas Sue downtown at the Las Vegas Club for dinner at the Great Moments Room.

I parked my car over at Main Street Station’s valet area and walked over to the Las Vegas Club by going through Main Street Station to the California and then outside over to the Las Vegas Club.

This meal would be fully comped for all 4 of us. I hadn’t eaten all day long other than a few cookies so I could really enjoy the full meal. I had never been here before and find it hard to believe there is a top-notch restaurant in the Las Vegas Club but there is. I ordered the prime rib hoping to get a good cut instead of one of those late night special cuts. The meal came with soup or salad. I chose the soup. Tonight’s soup was cream of potato with bacon. It was one of the best soups I’ve ever had. The prime rib was great. One of the best cuts I’ve had in a long time. The total bill for the 4 of us was $70. I guess that’s not a bad price for a decent restaurant.

After dinner we all went our separate ways. I was supposed to come back here to the Suncoast but I made the move over to Binion’s. I know I shouldn’t be going here with the way things have been but I couldn’t resist. I decided to take it easy and only bought in for $300 instead of my normal $500. I was doing ok here with the exception that I couldn’t win any of my double downs. I doubled down about 12 times and lost all but 3 of them. Despite this I was still pretty much even the whole time. Then suddenly it changed. The dealer was getting 20 after 20 and when she didn’t have one she pulled one. I lost 12 of 14 hands and was wiped out. Blackjack hasn’t been good to me this trip especially at Binion’s. I really hate losing money at Binion’s too. I can’t stand that bitch Becky and the thought I’m losing to her.

After getting my car I came back up here to the Suncoast. I played some 5-play video poker this time. I played for a while and got up a bit but then cashed out even. Then as I was walking through the casino I saw some 100-play machines. I’ve always loved the 50-plays so I thought I’d try these out. I played for pennies but even at pennies it’s still $5 per round. I played for quite a while on $20 but eventually lost.

From that machine I went to another 5-play machine and played for halves. I was doing ok and doubled my money at one point. I kept playing though and cashed out even again. I’ve had enough video poker for the night at this point so I went and got some ice cream at Katie’s Corner and came up here to the room. That’s the part we are at now. I’m still kind of tired from last night’s late night so I am going to call it a night and go to bed. Hopefully I’ll wake up a little earlier than I have been tomorrow so I can make the move to Sam’s Town.

Total win/loss for the day -$400
Total Comps for the day $99
