Engines are one of the primary suppression tools used by fire managers in the Great Basin. The majority of engines used by the Nevada BLM are Type IV engines that are four-wheel drive. The reason Type IV engines are preferred is because of the amount of water they hold. Water sources are usually few and far between and the more water an engine can hold the more wet line it can put it. Below are pictures of various engines and Unimogs that have been taken over years. Check out the slideshow to see pictures of the three engines that I have been engine boss on. I am looking for pictures of Carson BLM's Dragon Wagon from the 1980's, if you have any please e-mail me at drader@firehousemail.com so I can post some. |
-This is a slideshow of the different engines that I have been Engine Boss on since 1998. The first is an ATC Wildland Ultra XT. The second is a Freightliner FL70. The third is an International Model 4800. The last is the Mercedes Benz Unimog Model 2450. The ATC picture was used from the S and S Fire Website. |
