Ulysses was presented at the 2004 NA/WPN keuring, where he won his class, both in conformation and movement, and was awarded his Ster predicate. Conformation score was 75, and he was awarded the highest score of the keuring for his trot - 80%. The KWPN judge, Jacques Verkerk commented on Ulysses' suppleness, impulsion, good length of stride and excellent self carriage. Uly's walk was judged to be pure with good overreach. When the "2004 Top Ten" placings were announced for the North American tour, Ulysses was crowned 1st for conformation and 5th for movement in the Studbook gelding, stallions class. He was the top moving 3 year old in the same division.
As a 4 yr. old, Ulysses stands 17.1hh. Stall manners are excellent, including standing to be clipped. Currently, he is in training for dressage, with a bit of jumping on the side. With his conformation, movement, athleticism and temperament, Ulysses is an excellent FEI dressage or jumper prospect for the serious rider.
Ulysses has been sold to Brazil where he will train as a jumper. Ulysses' new home will be Sociedade Hipica Brasileira, in Rio de Janeiro, a world class facility hosting many international competitions. Without a doubt, Ulysses will touch the hearts of those who work with him in his new home, as he has with everyone here at home. He is already greatly missed by his trainer, Susan Fraser. We wish only the best for this marvelous horse as he begins another chapter in his life.

At 4 years old. Ulyyses' jump is from a trot to the fence.
June 10, 2006: Although Ulysses is no longer mine, I just had to post this update on him. Uly's owner, Tom Stone, informed me that Ulysses won his first Blue Ribbon in his second competition ever, jumping .9 meters. He is now in the 1.10 meter classes. The competition in Brazil is extremely tough with many trainers in every class with superb horses.
I couldn't be prouder than if I still I still owned this marvelous horse myself. Below are pictures Tom was kind enough to send me. Rider is Roberto Mendoca Dias, Ulysses' trainer, who is doing a super job with this talented youngster.
