Armed Drill Team

Description: You will learn regulation and exhibition armed drill team. The more you come to practice the better you will become. When you think you are ready you can take the level 2 test, When you pass the test you earn a spot on the performing team.

Practices: Practices are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday practices are MANDATORY. Show up in PT gear.

Performing Team: All level 2s and higher are on the performing team for exhibition. Level 3s can compete in regulation. Five cards are to be solid in order to compete.

Events: Hickam Drill Meet, Nanakuli Drill Meet, Ewa Beach Christmas Parade, Annual Inspection, West Point Drill Meet, King's Guard Drill Meet, End of the Year Awards Ceremony.

Members earn: Dark blue chord; ribbon #18

Policies: Level 3s do 10 push ups for dropping the rifle. Level 2s do 20 and level 1s do 50. Swearing will be rewarded with 20 push ups. Pointing the rifle at someone, is an automatic 100 push ups.




Unarmed Drill Team

Description: JCHS NJROTC Unarmed Drill Team contains Physical Training, stationary, marching and exhibition drills.

Purpose: Our purpose as leaders of Unarmed Drill Team is to be able to build stronger self-confidence in the cadets and help them succeed high, not only in NJROTC but as an all around cadet in and outside of school.

Practices: Mondays from 1430-1530 and Wednesdays from 1330-1530
**Note: If for any reason cadet cannot attend practice, cadet must notify XO or NCO so they can be excused from practice.

Events: There will be Drill Meets held at other high schools such as Farrington and Kaimuki. Unarmed Drill is not only used for Drill Meets but also other events such as assemblies and parades.

Required Uniform: Physical Training (PT) gear: Navy blue shirts and black bottoms (pants or shorts). Running/tennis shoes with NO SLIPPERS OR HIGH HEELS!!! For females, hair must be up for safety reasons.

Members earn: Dark blue chord; ribbon #18

Expectations from the Cadet: Be prompt. Come to practice in proper uniform attire. No bad mouthing of any sort. You will follow all orders given by person in command. You will not allow yourself to be lazy. Motivation and Dedication are a big plus!!! You must put aside all personal issues before coming to practice, but if you feel you need to tell one of the commanding officers about your problems we are always here to hear you out, just not during practice.

Colorguard

Description: CG consists of 4-5 members,2 rifle guards and 2-3 color bearers, who bring honor to the unit by bearing the National. and State flags.

Purpose: To lead the unit in every event, parades, JROTC gatherings island wide. Bear the colors for retirements,school asemblies, church events, etc....

Practices: Monday, Wedneday, Thursday 1430- 1600 (one week prior to the upcoming competition, there is mandatory practice everyday)

Required Uniform: White shirt, Black shorts

Members earn: black cord; ribbon#19

Cadet expectations: Have a sense of pride and integrity because you are part of the NJROTC's most active team, be able to do both flag and riffle, give up personal time to pratice for any event especailly competitions where practice is a requirement, have discipline, and HAVE FUN. Teamwork is a must!

Special Operations



Description: Special Operations is a unit that tests a cadet's physical and mental capabilities.

Purpose: Our purpose is to prepare a cadet's mind physically and mentally and to challenge other schools in competitions.

Practices: Practices are everyday; Monday-Friday afterschool from 14:30-15:30 and Wednesday morning 06:00-07:00.

Required Uniform: PT gear; green or brown top with black shorts (no visible logos), white socks and running/tennis shoes.

Members earn: A number of ribbons after competing in certain events; a light blue chord.

Air Riflery



Description: Air Riflery members use a single shot air-pump rifle to shoot pellets at targets in three different positions -- standing, kneeling, and prone -- to earn points and compete against other teams.

Scoring: Team members shoot at their targets in the allotted 50 minutes to earn as many points possible. There are 3 target pages, with 10 point targets and 2 sighting targets on each page. Every target earns points ranging from 1-10, or zero if target is missed. There is a maximum total of 300 points per person. The top seven scores from the female team and male team from each school gets totaled and the school's male and/or female team that has the highest total wins.
