CardCaptors
The GemCaptors Chronicles

Last time on CardCaptors . . .

“I would never want to move away from here . . .this is the best place I’ve ever been to.”
Next time on CardCaptors, the gang finally sits down to get to know each other much better. Ceaira and Aquilia talk about their past, and more about the Kayo Gems. The next day, they head to school as usual, but at lunch Ceaira senses Kayo Gems near the school. At the end of the day however, just as they were about to go home to get their costumes and guardians. . .
     “We’re locked in!”
     “Oh no!”
The gang finds themselves trapped inside the school. As they search for a way out, something happens that causes them to float inside the auditorium. Suddenly, the Sand Gem and Gravity Gem appear and launch a full scale attack on the three.
“I can’t seal Gravity or else we’ll all fall into the quicksand. But . . .I can’t seem to get one of my arrows to hit the Sand Gem . . .”
After careful thinking, Ceaira finally figured out she needed to shoot an arrow in a different direction to seal either one. She did so, sealing the Sand Gem.
“Ancient powers heed my cry! Allow the force to fly!”
A battle of power then broke out between the Gravity Gem’s magic and Ceaira’s magic. She concentrated all she had, then over powered the gem. Once the gravity returned to normal, she managed to seal the gem with the help of the Amazon Gem.
As they enjoyed their supper at Sakura’s house, the night doesn’t seem quite normal. What is that shadow which streaked across the moon?

Episode Seven

After the Darkness . . .

     “Go for it Li!”
     “You can do it!”
Li rushed forward and leaped up into the air, just as the soccer ball was flying toward him. He spun around and slammed it hard with his foot, causing it to speed across the field and into the other net just as the clock struck the end of the game. The other team simply stood there shocked, while everyone else rushed over to him. “Awesome shot Li!” “Another team bites the dust!” “If we keep this up we’ll make the championship!” Zachary high-fived Li as the siren declared that Reidenton had won the game with a score of 5-4. Sakura and Madison jumped up from the stands and cheered aloud. Li looked over to see them applauding and whistling, which caused him to blush when he looked at Sakura. Zachary looked at where he was staring, then laughed as he slapped Li in the back. “You know Li, audiences only came into existence when a princess snuck out of a castle with a group of knights to watch her true love fight a large army of black knights on his own. Then more people came to watch until there were thousands of people watching the lone warrior.” Li looked over at Zachary, and blinked three times in confusion. “Is that true?” “Not a single word.” Zachary laughed, while Li looked back toward the bleachers, only to see Sakura and Madison were gone. “Hey! Where did they go?” “Where did who go?” “Sakura and Madison. They just disappeared.” “Looking for us Li?”
Li suddenly spun around to see Sakura and Madison, both smiling at him. Zachary waved to then, but Li simply turned around quickly as he felt himself blushing again. Madison and Sakura laughed, then Sakura held up her pink purse with a star buckle on the side. “Who’s up for a victory ice cream cone? My treat!” “Yeah!” “That sounds great!” Everyone smiled, then waited as Li and Zachary grabbed their bags. They then rejoined the girls, and the four headed off toward the ice cream store. “Say, I bet none of you knew ice cream was invented by a polar bear.” “CAN IT ZACHARY!” “What did I say wrong?”
Across town, Ceaira and Aquilia were having a girl’s day in. They were up in their room, watching a comedy on Ceaira’s television as they enjoyed a tray of cupcakes. Aquilia as usual found herself eating more than Ceaira. “That was some capture yesterday . . .” “I’ll say, I’m still tired from it.” “Think about how Li feels. He had a soccer game today didn’t he?” “Yeah, I wonder how that’s going . . .” “They have a strong team this year, so they probably won it.” “And of course Sakura and Madison are watching and cheering them on.” “Yeah. Say, when is your father going to be home?” “Tonight. He’s got stuff to take care of at the university with Sakura’s father.” “Did you have any homework?” “I did it last night after we got home from Sakura’s house.” “Yeah. Mr. Avalon sure makes good pizza. I so couldn’t believe that there was that much cheese!” “Be thankful I managed to sneak you some. We almost got caught!” “Yeah well, it was worth it.” “I wonder why Sakura didn’t tell her family about Kero.” “Because they don’t have magic like her. She’s the only Avalon with powers you know.” “You have a point there.” Ceaira picked up another cupcake and bit a small piece of it, then looked down at Aquilia, who was already halfway through her cupcake. Ceaira laughed, causing Aquilia to stop and look up. “What?” “That’s your fourth cupcake in fifteen minutes! If you keep that up, you’ll be the Guardian Beast of Flab.” “Laugh if you want miss GemCaptor, but I gotta keep my strength up somehow.” “By pigging out? Maybe you should have been a pig instead of a budgie!” “You take that back!” “I’m just kidding you know.” “Take it back anyway.” Ceaira frowned, then leaned over to the side, which caused her to fall off the bed. She recovered quickly, then sat up from off the floor and gave the small bird an annoyed look. “Man, you have no sense of humour Aquilia.”
At the ice cream store, everyone had ordered their favourite dishes, then proceeded to sit down in a booth. Li and Sakura immediately grabbed the two seats next to window, causing Madison and Zachary to laugh. They sat down next then began eating their ice cream as the sky began to fill with clouds. “This store has the best ice cream ever!” “Why do you think I suggested coming here for a victory treat?” “This is so great. First we win the game, thus keeping our undefeated streak going, and now I get to enjoy a chocolate parfait!” “Why do you think I said I’d treat everyone to some ice cream? It’s a great victory treat!” “Considering it was a pretty intense game and it’s too hot to eat anything else because of it . . .” “Tell me about it . . .” “Well, tomorrow’s Saturday, what’s everyone doing?” “I’m gonna work on that English assignment.” “Oh yeah, the story . . .you’ll defiantly ace that Zachary.” “What makes you say that?” “You’re always telling stories, so you probably just used one of the stories you’ve managed to make up sometime during the past three years!” “Look, I don’t make up stories!” “Yeah, sure. If you don’t make up stories, then consider me the new emperor of China!” Li chuckled to himself, and Madison and Sakura giggled as Zachary crossed his arms and frowned. “Why does this always happen to me?” “Don’t worry Zachary, you tell the best stories ever.” “Really?” “Hey, if we can be fooled, then they have to be good!”
Suddenly, there was a crash of thunder as rain suddenly began pouring down as if a waterfall appeared in the sky. The four groaned as they finished off their ice cream. “Just great, it’s starting to rain again and none of us have umbrella’s.” “And Zachary and I still have all of this stuff to lug home.” “I’ll go call my dad and see if he can pick us up. He’s home right now because he has the day off from work.” “Good idea.” “Be right back.” Sakura stood up from her place, then crawled out as Zachary stood up and got out of the way. She then walked over to the payphone and picked it up. The others waited a few moments, then Sakura walked back over and smiled. “He’ll be over in 15 minutes.” “Cool.”
“Whatcha making Ceaira?” A couple of hours later, it was drawing closer to the supper hour. Ceaira and Aquilia were in the kitchen making supper for Misuteri and themselves. She stirred the spoon around the pot as she hummed a tune to herself, then removed it to take a sip while Aquilia remained perched on her right shoulder. After letting the taste sink in, she added some more spices which were sitting nearby, then continued stirring what appeared to be soup. “I’m making supper for dad. He’s probably going to be tired when he gets home.” “What kind of soup?” “Spicy tomato soup. He loves the stuff. Very spicy.” “Can I try some?” “I don’t think you can handle it Aquilia. It gets pretty spicy you know.” “I don’t care. Let me try some!” “Alright . . .but don’t say I didn’t warn you Aquilia. Just let me add a little more spice.” “Sure.” Ceaira reached over and picked up a small container, then opened it. After sprinkling in some, she closed it, placed it back on the counter, then stirred the soup around some last time. She then scooped up a small amount, then held it above an open hand as Aquilia leaned over and drank some of the soup from the spoon. After finishing the soup, Ceaira placed the spoon back into the pot and continued to stir it. Aquilia let the taste fully appear, then suddenly screamed out as a wave of fire shot out of her mouth. She jumped off of Ceaira’s shoulder and flew over toward the sink quickly, turning on the water and letting her mouth fill up. She then swallowed it and fell backwards off of the counter from the intense heat of the soup. Ceaira smiled, then removed the spoon from the pot and tossed it into the sink. “Soup’s ready!”
Later, Li and Sakura were over at her house working on a geography project based on Brazil up in Sakura’s room. Tori and Julian were studying in the kitchen, while Aiden was making supper. “Where was I supposed to put Rio de Janeiro?” “Over here.” “Which one of us is going to talk about the Amazon River?” “You are Li. I’m talking about the capitol.” “Right. Sorry, I haven’t been thinking about this project too much lately, especially with all of the Kayo Gems on the loose.” “I know what you mean Li. It’s all exciting because it’s a new adventure.” “How many times have we said that anyway?” “Too much really . . .”
Kero flew over to land on Sakura’s pillow, then looked down at the display of Brazil, then became totally puzzled. “So what’s this thing?” “It’s our geography project for school.” “It’s due next week and we’re putting together the display.” “I see. Brazil eh? Isn’t the capitol famous for parties or something?” “I think so.” “You’re not supposed to think so if it’s a project Sakura, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW!” “Alright already! Give it a rest Kero! We don’t have to find out every tiny little detail about Brazil!”
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, followed by a pause before a voice was heard. “Sakura? Li? Time for supper!” “Okay dad! We’ll be down in a minute!” “Supper. Bring me back something okay Sakura?” “Sure Kero. Come on Li. We’ll finish up the project after supper.” “Sounds like a plan.” Sakura smiled, then walked out of the bedroom with Li not too far behind. As the door closed, Kero frowned and then flew over toward the project and looked it over. “Projects must be boring . . .”
The two walked down the stairs and into the dining room, where Aiden was just placing a plate of fries in the centre. Sakura and Li sat down then grabbed some fries before Aiden sat down and took a few for himself. “What kind of fries are these?” “The extra crispy kind.” “Cool.” “So how’s the project coming along?” “Not too badly. We still have to figure out exactly what we’re gonna say during the presentation. Good thing it’s next Friday when we do it.” “Better not put it off to the last minute you two. Procrastination is never good.” “Right.” “So who won the soccer game earlier against West Reidenton?” “We did, 5-4. They were winning for a while, then they tied it up . . .” “And then Li jumped into action and scored the final goal before time ran out.” “Very impressive Li.” “Thanks Mr. Avalon.”
After the meal was finished, and after the two helped Aiden with the dishes, they went upstairs with four pudding cups. When Aiden asked why they had four, Sakura said they both wanted two. After walking back into Sakura’s room, she quickly closed the door and then placed a pudding cup on her desk. “Kero? I brought you a pudding cup!” “Kero?” The two looked around, totally curious as to the whereabouts of their small friend. Li walked over to the window as he noticed it was wide open. “Sakura, did we open the window earlier?” “No . . .it’s raining still, so why would we?” “It’s open now . . .” “I wonder, maybe Kero’s outside.” “But why?” Sakura shrugged her shoulders as she walked over to the window and poked her head outside. “Kero? Are you out here?” “I’m on the roof!” “Why are you on the roof? It’s raining buckets out there . . .or something like that.”
Kero sighed to himself as he walked across the shingles over to the edge in his true form. He then brought himself down to lay on his stomach, with his paws crossed in front of him and his wings folded down toward the roof. He then leaned over and looked toward Sakura and smiled. “I was just thinking, it must have been hard for Clow Reed to constantly feud with his brother so long ago. It’s also a reason to be thankful that Ceaira and Li do not argue that way today.” “Well it’s nice to have some family to talk to about Captoring, despite the distance. My family understands what it’s like to use magic, but they don’t understand what’s it like to go out and capture a Clow Card or a Kayo Gem.” “That still doesn’t tell me why you’re out in the cold rain.” “I like the rain.” “You like rain better than pudding?” “PUDDING!? I’M COMING IN!” “Li, I’m going to get a towel. Don’t let him in until I come back.” “Okay.” Li smiled as she left the room, then quickly closed the window just as Kero had finished his transformation back into his smaller form. He suddenly slammed into the window, thinking it was still opened, then fell onto the outside window sill and onto his back. “Ouch . . .”
Sakura opened the door, then quickly closed it as she carried a towel over to the window. “Where’s Kero?” “He’s on the window sill.” “Oh.” She opened the window and Kero stumbled in, then fell onto the floor and landed into a crumpled up form of himself. Sakura giggled, then lifted him up and wrapped the towel around him. “Poor Kero . . .” “Well, I should get going. Wei is going to wonder where I am if I don’t go home soon. Thanks for letting me stay for supper.” “No problem Li. Talk to you in school tomorrow.” “Bye.” Li smiled and waved to her as he picked up his stuff ad headed out of the room. A few moments later, he started down the walkway, but turned back to wave to Sakura one more, and left after she waved back. Kero crawled out from under the towel and started to snicker when he noticed her face was completely red from her blushing. “Are you ever gonna tell Li you like him?” “What?” “You heard me!” “Umm . . .well . . .” “Well?” “I have to wait until it’s the right time. I can’t just say it, or he might get scared, or run away, or might hate me!” “Sure Sakura, whatever you say . . .”
“Time for bed . . .” “Okay Dad!” Ceaira pulled on her dark blue shirt, then pulled the covers back as Aquilia landed on her pillow and folded her wings back. Ceaira then reached over and turned off the lamp, but suddenly sat up and picked up her eagle statue and began winding it. “Aquilia, you don’t mind if I let my statue play its music do you?” “No. I actually like it’s music. Very soothing and serene.” “I’m glad you like it. To tell you the truth, it’s the only thing left to remember my mother with.” “What happened to your mother by the way?” “She was killed a long time ago, a car hit her when she tried to rescue someone. When they got her to the hospital . . .she was already dead. Two months later, we moved to Winnipeg to try and comfort her parents. . .” “Ceaira, I’m so sorry . . .must have been hard for you to lose your mother and your sister . . .” “Yeah . . .and with dad always working, I felt so alone . . .but when I found the gems and released you, I found a close friend. Moving here, I gained more, and I found someone who truly cares about me.” “Yeah, Tori is a nice guy. He treats you well.” “I know. Well, there’s school tomorrow and I need my sleep. Good night Aquilia.” “Night Ceaira . . .” Aquilia yawned, then closed her eyes and fell asleep. Ceaira stretched out her arms, then placed her statue back on the shelf behind her bed. She fell asleep afterwards, letting the tranquil music of the statue fill her room.
Outside, the winds were beginning to blow as the rain continued to pour. Clouds began darkening in the sky, which the city to become just as dark itself. A dark shadow leaped from building to building, until it jumped up onto the very summit of the radio tower. Letting out a great roar, it disappeared into a burst of dark grey light which entered the darkest cloud in the sky.
Sakura rubbed her eyes right after she awoke from her long sleep, then looked to see that it was still dark outside. “Man . . .why did I wake up so early . . .” She glanced at the clock, then groaned as her head fell back onto her pillow. Just as she closed her eyes, they suddenly opened quickly as she sat back up and grabbed her clock. “9:41!? What’s going on?! KERO!” The little guardian beast groaned as the drawer pushed out to reveal he was very tired. He too, rubbed his eyes and looked around, then out the window. “Sakura . . .why did you wake me up so early? It’s still dark outside.” “It’s not early! Look at my clock!” She held out the clock so Kero could see, which caused him to cry out when he saw the time. “Are you sure that’s the right time?!” “Yes!” “We better get to the bottom of this! Come on Sakura!” “I’m coming!”
Just as she jumped out of the bed, her cell phone began ringing. She walked over and picked it up, then quickly turned to Kero. “Just a second, better answer the phone.” “Great, just great . . .it’s dark at 9:45 in the morning, and miss Clow Mistress is worried about the phone . . .” “Can it Kero!” After glaring at him, she turned cheery again and answered the phone. “Hello?” “Sakura, it’s Madison! I’m so glad you’re awake!” “Why? Are you okay?” “It’s almost ten o’clock, and the sun hasn’t even risen yet in the sky! There is something seriously wrong here!” “Kero and I were thinking the same thing. Okay, you call Ceaira and ask her what she thinks, and tell her to meet on the street corner in twenty minutes. I’ll call Li.” “Okay Sakura. See ya later.”
Twenty minutes later, Ceaira, Aquilia, and Li arrived to the street corner, where the light was still illuminated. It was still raining, but they couldn’t care less at the current time. Checking his watch, Li looked around for Sakura and the others. “Where are they Li?” “I have no clue . . .those three should have been here by now . . .”
Suddenly, Madison and Kero appeared out of no where and hurried down the street. Following close behind was Sakura, who was wrapped in a black cloak. The others looked at her with curiosity, while Madison and Kero smiled. He was wearing a metal harness with a sun shaped broach attaching them all together in the middle. “Why is Sakura wearing that cape?” “For a good reason Aquilia.” “So Kero, what would that be?” Madison could not stop giggling, as well as Sakura. She then gripped the camcorder and turned around to start filming her cloaked friend. “Presenting on this very street corner, Sakura’s new battle costume!” Sakura smiled, then pulled off her cloak and tossed it aside to reveal her new battle costume. She wore high-heeled ankle boots which were electric violet in colour, which was as well the same colour as her sleeveless shirt and her fingerless gloves. Four metallic straps, which looked like a harness as well, were attached at the centre by a yellow star shaped broach, and on her shoulders were bronze coloured metallic shoulder pads. Around her neck was a blue choker necklace with a silver star design on the front. Her black skirt was slitted in four different sections, causing a piece to fall in front, behind, and on both sides. Finally, her hair ties were silver, with a gold star piece.
Sakura smiled and modelled her costume for everyone to see. “So what does everyone think?” Ceaira leaned back on her left foot and slightly cross her right over it as she placed a hand to her chin. “Hmm, seems suited for this.” “I think it’s pretty good!” “Thanks. I think I designed it well this time.” “You said it!” Everyone nodded, but then turned to Li who was staring right at Sakura. She smiled, then walked over to him and gave him a gentle push. “Come on Clow descendant, time to get to work.” “What? Oh, sure. Which gem are we up against?” “Well, personally, I think it is the Dark or Shadow Gem. Either one have the power to block out the sun and create a dark atmosphere. As well, they can cast spells to make people think it’s still nighttime, so that’s why they’re all still asleep . . .well, except for the night owl’s and insomniacs.” “Aquilia’s right. Hopefully, they’ll blame the lack of sleep on this.” “Or assume it’s a solar eclipse.” “Either way, we still have to be careful, especially when our magic is involved.” “So I better stick with the crossbow.” “Good idea. Well, let’s move out. We have to find this gem before it decides to attack in it’s visible form.”
Everyone nodded to verify Aquilia’s order’s, then looked down the street. After Sakura gave the signal it was clear, the group rushed down the street as swiftly as they could. Once they reached another corner, Kero dropped to the ground and crawled over to the edge and peered around to see no one there once again. “Let’s go.” “Okay.” “This is freaky, look up and check out the moon!” “Why?” “Just look! It looks too freaky!” The seven looked up at the sky, then gasped with horror as they saw it had taken on a blood red colour. As well, since it was a full moon, it made the dark sky seem more eerie. “This is too weird . . .” “That’s it. It’s the Dark Gem. That’s it sign that it’s affecting the natural forces of night and day.” “So what is it’s visible form now that we know which gem it is Aquilia?” “It has to be a black panther. It’s well suited for the power of the gem.” “Black fur blends in with darkness. It makes sense.” “Let’s get going. Can anyone sense it at all?” “Give me a minute . . .I know a way we can find it.” Ceaira frowned, then closed her eyes and placed two of her fingers on front of her face. “Kayo Gem's ancient force, show to us the correct course.” She sighed quietly to herself, as a small arrow of light appeared in the middle of the group. As it took a more permanent form, it began to spin around. Sakura, Li, Kero, and Madison gasped from amazement as Ceaira remained focussed. “Arrow of Syona point the way, so we can restore the light of hope and day.” She then opened her eyes and quickly brought her fingers down, pointing toward the spinning arrow. It began slowing down, then finally came to a stop as it pointed toward a dark alley nearby. “Over there.” “That was awesome!” “It’s special magic . . .but asking it to tell me which direction is correct, is the only spell I know right now. Any ways, let’s not waste time. Come on.” “Right.” Kero rose from the ground, then flew over toward the dark alley as the others followed.
Suddenly, they heard a shocked cry as they began entering the darkness. Turning around, they saw Sakura trying to lift Madison to her feet. “Are you okay Madison?” “I feel strange . . .like something is covering me.” “It’s okay Madison. You’re alright, nothing’s around.” “I know but . . .” She leaned forward and clutched her stomach with her arms as her video camera fell to the ground. Sakura tried to lift her back up, but suddenly jumped away as a black energy suddenly appeared and formed a dome around her. Worried about her best friend, Sakura quickly reacted and threw out a card and slammed it with her wand. “Sword Card! Release and dispel!” A blue energy surrounded it, forming a sword. “Don’t worry Madison! I’ll get you out!” Bringing the sword over her head, Sakura let out a battle cry as she brought it down.
Suddenly however, the energy disappeared, revealing to the group that Madison had disappeared too. Sakura was caught off balance, causing her to fall face forward to the ground. Li rushed over and helped her up, then handed her the sword. “Where did she go!?” “Great . . .Dark must have captured her . . .she’s now being held by it, somewhere in darkness.” “Not good . . .we have to find her Ceaira.” “I don’t know how to find her!” “Calm down everyone. My only theory is that we find and defeat the Dark Gem. This is the only way to free Madison from it’s dark world.” “Alright . . .let’s get going.” “Be careful everyone. It may decide to capture us anytime. The gems will do anything to stay free.” “That and they want me dead. They’ll also do anything to get rid of me.” “We’ll be careful, but you better be careful too.” “Okay.” “Let’s go, but be very quiet . . .” Everyone nodded with Ceaira, then placed a finger to their mouths to indicate that silence was going to be important. They then pressed themselves against the wall, and slowly headed down the alleyway. “How aggressive is the Dark Gem?” “Seeing as it’s a panther . . . it’s probably quite aggressive and agile. Be ready for a tough fight you three.” “Okay.”
Making sure to be very quiet, the group continued to quietly tiptoe down the alley toward the end. As they approached, they were all able to sense a dark power. Aquilia slowed down a little so she could fall back behind everyone, then began flying again. Suddenly, a small black portal appeared right in front of her, causing her to gasp. Before she could stop, she flew into the portal and it closed.
Hearing the gasp, the four turned around sharply to see one of Aquilia’s feather’s floating to the ground. Ceaira felt her eyes filling with tears as she stared off into space. “No . . .Aquilia’s gone too . . .” “This is getting creepy . . .” “I don’t think we should take too much time finding Dark. Let’s get going.” Sakura, Li, and Ceaira nodded as they agreed with Kero, but just as they were about continue, they looked back and gasped when they saw a large black portal appear on the ground. It remained solitary for a moment, but then began moving right toward the four, causing them to panic. “RUN!” Wasting no time, they took off and ran as fast as they could toward the end of the alley. However, the black portal was slowly but surly gaining on them. Sakura found herself falling behind the other’s but just as she was about to pull out the Dash Card, the portal reached her and she fell in. Grabbing the ground, she attempted to pull herself out as the portal tried to pull her into it’s darkness. “HELP ME!”
Skidding to a stop, Li, Ceaira, and Kero gasped when they saw Sakura struggled with the portal. Li panicked, then ran back and grabbed her arms just as she lost her grip on the ground. He then began pulling her out, but the powers of the portal remained strong as they continued to pull her in. Ceaira ran over and wrapped her arms quickly around Li’s waist, then began pulling as well. “Kero! We need your help!” “Hang on! I’m on my way!” As he finished speaking, he began to glow a bright yellow colour. After becoming engulfed in a golden sphere, reappeared and became a large golden lion with white wings, wearing a helmet encrusted with a large red sun shaped ruby. Rushing over, he grabbed Ceaira’s belt with his teeth, then flew up off the ground and pulled. “Hang on Sakura!” “Hurry! It’s pulling harder!” “Don’t panic or it will pull you in quicker!” “You’re thinking about quicksand Li!” “Keep pulling!”
Just as Ceaira finished, a large ball of energy sped out from the darkness and struck Ceaira in the chest, causing her to cry out from shock and accidentally let go of Li. The sudden release caused him to lose his footing, thus causing both him and Sakura to fall into the portal. At the same time, Ceaira and Kero stumbled back and fell to the ground. As Li disappeared into the black portal, it suddenly closed and disappeared, leaving no trace of the struggle whatsoever. Ceaira got up onto her knee’s, then gasped when she saw that they had disappeared. Kero climbed up, then gasped when he saw the same scenario. “No . . .” “SAKURA! LI!”
“Where can we possibly be Aquilia?” Madison took a few steps forward, holding her video camera in her right hand as Aquilia followed close behind. “This is the Dark Gem’s prison for those it captures with it’s dark portals.” “Those things that got us were dark portals?” “That’s right.” “LOOK OUT!”
The two looked up to see Sakura and Li falling toward them. Taking a few steps back, the two landed on the ground. “Ouch . . .that hurt . . .” “I’ll say . . .” After getting up, they joined the other two and looked around. “How are we going to get out of here?” “There’s only one way.” “What would that be Aquilia?” “Ceaira has to weaken the Dark Gem enough so it loses it’s power grip on this prison. This place will then disappear and we’ll be transported back to the real world.” “I hope you’re right.” Sakura nodded, then placed her hands to her face and lifted her head toward the black sky. “Ceaira! Kero! Get us out of here!”
Continuing down the alley, Ceaira and Kero finally exited the darkness to enter a dead end full of large crates and garbage cans. They looked around, but they were not able to spot the gem. “So Ceaira, where is it?” “Hmm . . .I’ll try my spell again and see where it is.” She once again closed her eyes and placed her two fingers to her face, causing the arrow to once again appear and spin. Kero watched, but once in a while looked around to make sure they wouldn’t get caught off guard. “Kayo Gem's ancient force, show to us the correct course. Arrow of Syona point the way, so we can restore the light of hope and day.” The arrow suddenly stopped, then Ceaira opened her eyes and looked toward the direction it was pointing in, to see a large crate. She nodded to Kero, then began to quietly creep over toward it. “When I give the signal . . .you leap over the crate and attack the panther.” “Are you sure it’s there?” “My direction spell is always right. Trust me.” “Okay . . .what are you going to do?” “I’ll have to think of which gem to use, seeing as we don’t have Sakura’s Light Card, and I don’t have the Light Gem. Maybe Firey can do the job . . .” “Let’s hope you’re right.”
Ceaira stopped, then pressed her back against the crate and opened a slot on her crossbow to cause the Firey Gem to fall out and land in her open hand. Looking toward Kero, she nodded and pointed toward the crate. Kero nodded, then raced forward and jumped up into the air to dive behind the crate. The sounds of a screeching cat were heard, followed by a large black panther racing out from behind, followed by Kero. Ceaira’s expression became serious as she held out her crossbow out in front of her. “Time to be sealed . . .”
She gripped a gem in her left hand, to reveal it’s image to be a large firebird engulfed in flames. She then lowered the arm to the ground, then lifted it quickly as she tossed the gem above her head. She then held out her crossbow and left arm out in front of her and went into a spin as a sparkling red energy surrounded her. “Firey Gem . . .I command you to use your fire’s light to attack Dark!” She then pointed the crossbow up to the sky and held out her left arm to the side and quickly opened her eyes to see the gem reaching it’s vertical peak. “Firey Gem! Shatter and dispel!”She pulled the trigger of the crossbow and a arrow flew up, followed by all the energy which surrounded her before. They both collided with the front of the gem, causing it to shatter into a sparkling red light. It fused together, then a great amount of light bursted forward as the firebird appeared and screeched to proclaim it’s presence. Spotting the panther, the firebird released from it’s mouth a giant stream of flames which surrounded it entirely. Ceaira smiled, but just as Kero rejoined her, the panther used it’s powers and extinguished the fire. Snarling into the night, it sent a large beam of dark energy right at the firebird’s chest, which made contact. Ceaira panicked, then closed her eyes as she began to think carefully. “Okay, let’s get this right because I can’t make a wrong move against a gem this powerful . . .Storm probably won’t be able to fight it because it can destroy any of it’s attacks . . .Amazon is more less a restraining gem . . .Gravity probably won’t be much help, same with Sand . . .Nightmare isn’t for this situation . . .Love and Friendship wouldn’t stand a chance . . .Snow . . .Freeze . . .I doubt it . . .wait a second . . .that’s it!”
Ceaira nodded to herself, knowing she had only one chance at her newly formed plan. Standing up from the ground, she opened the slot on her crossbow allowing another gem to fall out and land in her hand. “This has to work!”
She gripped a gem in her left hand, to reveal it’s image to be a water serpent with two larges waves on both sides. She then lowered the arm to the ground, then lifted it quickly as she tossed the gem above her head. She then held out her crossbow and left arm out in front of her and went into a spin as a sparkling blue energy surrounded her. “Watery Gem . . .Combine your powers with Firey and attack Dark!” She then pointed the crossbow up to the sky and held out her left arm to the side and quickly opened her eyes to see the gem reaching it’s vertical peak. “Watery! Shatter and dispel!” She pulled the trigger of the crossbow and a arrow flew up, followed by all the energy which surrounded her before. They both collided with the front of the gem, causing it to shatter into a sparkling blue light. IT swirled around on the ground, until the large snake emerged and screeched into the black sky. Firey flew toward it, and Watery bursted into water just as Firey bursted into flames. The two merged together and shot forward, striking Dark with their combined force. After the energies disappeared, Dark fell over onto it’s side and released a moan of pain.
Suddenly, four specks of light appeared which began to materialize. After disappearing, Sakura, Li, Madison, and Aquilia were left standing there, totally dazed. “Yikes . . .I hope we’re back!” “We are Madison.” “That’s great!” “Ceaira!”
Hearing her name, Ceaira turned to Aquilia, who was flying over toward her. “You have to use Light powers to weaken it before sealing it!” “How!? I don’t have the Light Gem!" "You have Lumina magic don’t you!?” “Oh right!” “Li! Sakura! Use your powers of light along with her to weaken the panther!” “Okay!” The two nodded, then raced over and stood on both sides of Ceaira as the panther began to slowly rise from the ground.
Sakura held the card in front of her with her eyes closed, and turned the image outward to face away from her. She then tossed it forward and then began twirling the wand. “Light Card . ” She finished twirling as the card stopped in front of her. She raised the wand above her head, then brought it down, causing the point to slam against the card’s image. “Release and dispel!” Waves of energy and light appeared and travelled outward as she held the position. White light suddenly emerged from the card, swirling all around her, then shot out toward the panther.
Li held one of his Ofuda’s, which began glowing. He then tossed it out and gripped his sword. “Now! Element . . .Light!” Slamming his sword against the paper, a beam of light shot out and fused together with the Light Card’s power.
Holding her arms above her head in an X formation, Ceaira’s arm guards began sparking with magic as she locked her eyes on the panther and the light heading for it. “Ancient powers heed my cry, allow the force to fly! Lumina power!” She then brought her arms down, still forming an X, and a beam of light shot out and joined the other power’s. It only took a second for all three to strike the panther and lock it in a pillar of pure light. Everyone stared for a moment, but then Aquilia landed on Ceaira’s shoulder and poked her with her wing. “Ceaira! Hurry and seal the gem!” “Right Aquilia!” Ceaira’s expression turned serious once more as she turned to face the fallen panther. Raising her crossbow, she placed her finger on the trigger. “Dark Gem! Return to your power confined!” Pulling the trigger, an arrow of white light shot out and soared across the alley until it bursted into a larger quantity of the same light, Wrapping around the panther, it shrank and morphed until all that was left was a small gem. It fell to the ground, then bounced upward and over to Ceaira, who caught it with her left hand. “We did it . . .”
Everyone gathered around her to see the image of a black panther standing against the dark side of a yin-yang. “That was great teamwork you three.” “Thanks Kero.” “I wonder how it will look when we watch it on tape . . .” Everyone nodded, then looked up at the sky to see the sun as if it was rising normally. “Excellent! Now that the Dark Gem’s sealed, everyone will wake up and think they’ve been awake for a while.” “OH NO!” “What’s wrong with you four?” “WE HAVE SCHOOL!” Panicking, the four sped off hastily toward their homes, followed by Aquilia and Kero, as they prepared to live the day as if it was an ordinary one.

The Kayo Gems

“Each gem that is captured has a mystical seal . . .a new mystifying gem today we shall reveal . . .”
The Kayo box is dark blue with the image of a golden eagle on the lid. It suddenly flipped opened and tipped over, causing all the gems inside to spill out onto the ground. they all bounced around, but one landed and spun around on one side. It then fell over into it’s flat side to reveal the image to be a black bat with large wings.
     “Shadow Gem!”
Sakura found herself hanging by her hands which were tied together. Ceaira jumped up and shot an arrow to try and break Sakura free, but a black bat managed to shoot ropes of shadows which trapped Ceaira as well. Li managed to dodge and cut both of them free, then used his light magic after Sakura used the Light Card to cause the bat to fall. Ceaira then shot an arrow at it causing it to burst into energy. The Shadow Gem is then shown again before bursting into a black light.

Kero's Corner

“Hey there Card fans! It’s once again time for Kero’s Corner, where I bring to you the behind-the-scene, inside-track, just-between-you-and-me, lowdown scoop on Sakura’s second battle costume for the gem capture’s she and the other must now handle!”
He turns around to face the TV. Holding a remote in his hand, Kero turns on the TV to Sakura modeling her costume for everyone.
“Here we go again with Madison’s outrageous battle design’s and it seemed to help some in today’s episode.”
Kero then changed the channel to show Sakura in an attack position, modeling her new costume and holding her Star Wand.
“This costume uses dark colors so the Dark Gem wouldn’t be able to see them if it was spying. The slitted skirt makes for easy movement, and the gloves let her grip her wand better. The harness however is just to give it a neat look, cause Madison loves anything that looks cool.”
Kero smiled then flies closer until his face is almost right up again the camera lens.
     “And now, check out this!”
He then changed the channel again to show a picture of Sakura’s boots.
“The boots make it easy to run it, thank goodness eh? Otherwise Sakura could have been in trouble back there. Now the choker is like the harness, just a snazzy accessory. And how about those hair elastics?”
He then turned off the program, then flew over to an air hockey table where Aquilia stood and waved to the camera from her side with her wing. Grabbing his stuff, he held the puck as he turned back to the camera.
“Dark was very aggressive but because of a team effort Ceaira was able to seal it. They all make a good team don’t they? Well, See ya!”
He then turned back to Aquilia as the two started their air hockey match.
