CardCaptors
The GemCaptors Chronicles

Last time on CardCaptors . . .

“ . . .I accidentally opened it, releasing all the gems. They fled here for some reason.”
Last time, Ceaira and Aquilia discussed and revealed everything they knew about the Kayo Gems. Li as well discovered that he and Ceaira were distantly related due to Clow Kayo being Clow Reeds younger brother. Ceaira and Aquilia then went on to discuss the feud that started from then and continued through the bloodline, and as well brought around the creation of the Clow Card and the Kayo Gems.
“The hated was so powerful, that they wanted to destroy each other.”
The next day, mysterious weather causes snow to fall in their town After enjoying a day of fun, Ceaira has her ruined when she senses a Kayo Gem. They go to the playground, where they face off and seal the Snow Gem. The next day, they discover that all of the water in Reidenton has been frozen. They head to the reservoir and battle against the Freeze Gem. After many close encounters, they managed to trap the gem in the form of a wolverine using the Amazon Gem. However, it managed to freeze Sakura and Li’s bodies before it became totally immobile.
“You have to use the Fire Gem to free the others before you seal Freeze, otherwise they’ll be badly injured when it disappears. That, and if Freeze did free itself, it can attack those two and shatter the ice.”
She managed to free the two using her Fiery Gem, then afterwards, she sealed Freeze back into it’s Gem form. On their way home, they make a pact to help each other when in need.
“We make it so as the Captors Code.”
Now begins Ceaira’s first real test of her inner strength . . .

Episode Five

Nemesis of Her Nightmares

It was the next day at Reidenton High School, and the CardCaptor’s gang was ready for the lessons to be taught to them. At the end of hers, Ceaira was about ready to go home and take a relaxing bath, when the teacher asked them all to sit back down for another minute. They did as they were told, and then he cleared this throat.
“Students, tonight’s homework assignment is to study all of the notes for this year so far. There will be a test this Friday on all that we’ve covered. Okay, class dismissed.”
Everyone then sat up and left the classroom, everyone complaining to each other about the lack of time to study. Ceaira went over to her locker and put away some books, while pulling out others, plus her jacket and helmet. “Man . . .two days to study for an English test . . .this is going to take major concentration and dedication.” She sighed to herself then looked at her reflection in the mirror. She pulled some hair back to hang down her back, and then sighed to herself again. “I just hope we won’t have to capture any Gems between now and then . . .I won’t be able to concentrate on both my school work and my destiny if this keeps up . . .but then again, if I’m not able to, then the world could be in serious trouble . . .” She then looked back up at her reflection and smiled. “But hey, I’m the GemCaptor. I can handle one little test and at the same time, save the entire world from the gems I accidentally released!” She then closed the locker and walked down the hall. Leaving the school, she placed her case on the rack behind her seat, and then strapped on her helmet. She then hopped onto her bike and rode out of the schoolyard and then down the street. “Hey Ceaira!”
She suddenly looked up the road to see Tori at the corner trying to get her attention. She smiled and waved back, still biking down the hill. She came up a stop beside him and smiled. “How’s it going?” “Great, are we still going to the movies tonight?” “Actually, can we go Saturday night? I kind of have to study for an English Test coming up. My father says I have to pass this test or I’m in trouble.” “How so?” “If I don’t make good grades here in Reidenton, then I have to go back to Cairo . . .where the school I used to go to was losing money, so they couldn’t afford proper textbooks.” “Oh. I’d hate to see you leave.” “I would hate to leave too. I would have to say good-bye to Kara, Julia, Hope, Sakura, Li, Madison, and of course, I would have to leave you . . .and I don’t ever want to.” “That’s not going to happen. You can count on that.” “Yeah, you’re right. Well, I’ll maybe take half an hour off from studying to call you okay? If I don’t by 10:00 PM, then I’ll talk to you tomorrow afternoon okay?” “Sounds pretty good.” “Well, I should go and start studying.” Ceaira smiled then leaned over to give Tori a quick kiss on the lips. “See you later Tori.” She then waved and biked off down the street toward her house. She smiled to herself as she sped across the pavement, under the trees above.
She looked up to see the sun’s rays shining through, then smiled again. “I love this place . . .I hope I never have to leave . . .which means I have to pass the English Test . . .time for an all nighter.” She then rolled into the driveway and parked her bike. Just then, her father came running out, pulling on his coat. He was a tall man with black hair and dark red eyes. At that time, he was wearing a white shirt with a black tie, and black pants with a brown belt, and black shoes. On his wrist was a watch with a white face and a black strap. He went over to the car and waved. “Hey Ceaira.” “Hi dad! Where are you going?” “Something came up at the museum and I was asked to check it out. Dinner’s in the fridge, and you and Aquilia can have cupcakes for desert.” “Okay, thanks dad!” She waved to him then headed into the house after picking up her case. She went upstairs and into her room. Placing her case on the bed, she pulled out a textbook, then changed into a black turtleneck and blue jeans, and then sat down at her desk. She then opened it up and began reading it. Aquilia was sleeping on a pillow on the ground, but when Ceaira sat down she woke up and stretched her wings. “How are you Ceaira?” She didn’t respond as she was reading her textbook. Aquilia became puzzled. “What are you doing Ceaira?” “Studying . . .” “That’s great! It’s good that you are.” “Well, let’s say if I didn’t, then the Kayo Gems would be allowed to run free until I finish my education.” “How so?” “Well, I would have to go back to Cairo, making it so we couldn’t capture the gems . . .” “That’s right. You better study hard then.” “I will, don’t worry. I even asked Tori if we could change our movie date to Friday. He didn’t mind of course.” “He seems like a sweet boy.” “Boy? Aquilia, he’s 19 years old. No one considers him a ‘boy’ anymore!” “All right! Calm down Ceaira!” “Okay, I should get back to studying. Dad says there are cupcakes for us after supper.” “Really?” Ceaira nodded then returned to her textbook. Aquilia suddenly sped off and started flying around the room at a very fast speed. “YES! I LOVE CUPCAKES!” Ceaira giggled then returned to reading her book. She then frowned, thinking to herself the next couple of days would be very long for her. The day passed, and she quickly grabbed supper then headed back to her studies.
More time passed and her eyes were becoming heavy. “This is so tiring . . .and hard on the eyes . . .” Ceaira yawned and stretched out her arms as she looked up from her textbook. She then rubbed her eyes as she looked over at the clock. It read 11:53 PM. She sighed to herself then looked back to her textbook. “I can’t go to sleep just yet . . .maybe I’ll study just a little longer . . .” She yawned once again, and then turned back to her textbook. Aquilia suddenly flew into the room, carrying with her a cupcake with pink frosting and a cherry on top. She then sat down on a pillow, and began eating the cherry. “You’re dad makes great cupcakes!” “Yeah sure . . .” Ceaira then stretched over and turned on her stereo. It then began playing quiet, classical music. She smiled then returned to her textbook and continued to study. Aquilia looked up from her cupcake then over at the clock. “Ceaira, it’s almost midnight. Don’t you think you should go to bed soon? You’ve been studying since you got home.” “I have to pass this test Aquilia, you know what will happen if I don’t do well . . .” “But you still should get some sleep.” “I can go without sleep for one night, don’t worry Aquilia. I’ll be fine.” “Whatever you say, I have no right to complain, seeing as your culture is very new to me.” Ceaira nodded as she continued to read her textbook, wondering if she was going to be able to remember all of the information.
The next morning, Aquilia awoke from her pillow and stretched her wings. “Ah, what a wonderful dream. I was in the land of cupcakes. The rivers were full of icing, and the trees had so many cherries, and they were so big that-” She suddenly looked over to see Ceaira still sitting at the desk, reading through her textbook. Aquilia frowned and slapped herself in the face with her left wing. “Ceaira!” She looked up from the book and turned around to face Aquilia. She yawned once, and then stretched out her arms before looking down at the little bird. “Yes?” “You didn’t sleep at all, did you?” “No . . .I guess I lost track of time when I was studying . . .” “Ceaira, listen to me.” Aquilia then rose into the air, then flew over to a small perch. She landed on it and then folded her wings back. “A relaxed mind makes for relaxed decisions.” “And that’s supposed to mean what?” “You’ll make better choices if you get sleep. Studying all night isn’t going to help you on the test if you’re exhausted!” “Aquilia, you don’t even understand my situation!” “I understand perfectly. I know if you don’t do well in school, then you’ll be sent back home to Cairo, which prevents us from capturing all the gems!” “Right.” “But, that doesn’t mean you can skip a full night’s sleep to study!” “Why not!?”
Suddenly, Ceaira’s father walked into her room, then gasped as he saw and listened to the two arguing. He rushed in and stepped between the two, placing his left hand in front of Aquilia, and his right hand in front of Ceaira’s face. “That’s enough you two! You’re supposed to be partners in your quest, and here you both are, arguing over a pointless matter!” “You’re right dad.” “I agree with Ceaira. You are correct Misuteri. We shouldn’t fight.” “That’s better. Now then, it’s time to head to school Ceaira.” “Okay dad . . .” She nodded then grabbed her uniform from off the back of her chair. She then left the room to change. Misuteri looked to Aquilia and frowned. “Did she sleep at all last night? I came home at 2 AM and she was still studying.” “I doubt it. I fell asleep before she stopped studying.” “She must be taking the deal I made with her very seriously. She would have to go home to Cairo if she doesn’t do well though . . .” “But what if the gems aren’t all captured?” “I have no choice. It’s my duty as a father.” “Very well, but please consider the situation that will occur if we leave any gems running wild. Now if you’ll excuse me Misuteri, there’s a cupcake downstairs with my name written on it.”
Aquilia giggled to herself, then soared out of the room and down the stairs, just as Ceaira emerged from the bathroom, wearing her uniform, and brushing her hair. Misuteri walked out of her room then headed downstairs. Ceaira then went into her room and placed her textbook into her book bag. She then grabbed her helmet and headed downstairs. She grabbed an apple and ate it quickly. “I’ll see you later dad! Same with you Aquilia!” Ceaira then headed out after Aquilia waved, while she was eating another cupcake. Misuteri waved as well before Ceaira walked out the door. She hopped onto her bike, strapped on her helmet, and then rode out of her driveway and up toward the school. As she rode, she suddenly saw Sakura and Li racing against each other. Thinking she could have some fun, she quickly picked up speed on her bike, then headed toward the two. Right before she got to them, she placed a hand to her face. “Heads up!” She suddenly raced right between Li and Sakura, causing them to both go off balance. They swerved around before crashing into each other. Ceaira skidded to a stop and giggled as the two were totally tangled up. “Are you two all right?” “Yeah, we’ll be fine I guess . . .” “And I was just about to win too . . .” “In your dreams Li.” The two got to their feet then skated over to Ceaira. The three then continued toward the school. “So how’s everything Ceaira?” “Not too bad. Was Tori upset that I didn’t call last night?” “A little, he was hoping you would.” “Well, tell him not to worry, because I’m defiantly going to go out with him Saturday night.” “That’s great. He likes you a lot you know.” “I know. Well, there’s the school.” “Cool. We should hurry before the bell rings.” “Right.”
Two days passed very quickly for Ceaira, and at lunch on the day of the test, she was found studying in the schoolyard. Everyone tried to get her to have some fun, but she refused and went back to her textbook. Finally, English class came, and she was ready for the test. When it was handed to her, she started at it right away. “This is so easy, I’m glad I studied so hard.” Near the end of the test, she was just finishing up an essay question, when her vision suddenly went blurry. She regained her senses and considered it nothing, then went back to finishing the question. On her way out once the bell had rung, she went to her locker and began putting her stuff away. “That was weird . . .wonder why my vision did that . . .”
After school, Ceaira hopped onto her bicycle and headed toward her house. She had just pulled out of the yard when she suddenly became very tired. She suddenly started to swerve, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t regain control. Suddenly, she blacked out, but for some reason, she wasn’t able to remember crashing or falling.
She saw total darkness for the longest time, but then light returned. She saw herself standing on a giant tree root, staring into an ancient temple. The walls and ground were covered with tree roots. As well on the ground, a small river existed. Light poured through the cracks in the ceiling, and she could hear the sounds of flowing water and birds chirping. She smiled, then breathed in the clean air deeply. She then stepped down from the root and walked along the river. “What a beautiful temple . . .like something written in a story . . .” She suddenly stopped as she looked up ahead. There was a giant tree covered in pink cherry blossom petals. Sitting on one of the roots was a girl with long blue hair blowing in the breeze. She wore a white dress which no sleeves, which came down to her ankles. She wore no shoes, and she as well wore a small black belt. On her wrists were white bands, and in her hair she wore a white headband. Ceaira felt tears gathering in her eyes, for she knew who it was. “Hannya . . ?” The girl suddenly looked up from the river, ad then started to rise from the tree root. “Ceaira . . .” Before she turned around to reveal her identity, the entire world shattered and Ceaira fell into darkness. It lasted only a moment, for she heard the voice of Tori calling her name.
She suddenly realized she must be dreaming. She woke up, to see Tori’s face. He looked very concerned and scared. She looked around, then glanced to the corner, where she saw her bike laying on it’s side. She then started to sit up from the ground, while Tori reacted and helped her up. “Are you okay?” “I think so . . .” Ceaira got to her feet and quickly checked herself over. She then smiled and looked to Tori, who smiled as well. “I’m fine. Don’t worry.” “I can’t help it. When I turned the corner I saw you out of control. Good thing I caught you in time.” “You did?” “Yeah.” “Thanks . . .well, I”m gonna get going now. I should get some sleep.” “Let me walk you home or something. You look exhausted, and I’m going to guess that’s what caused you to lose control.” “Tori, I’ll be fine.” “I’m not leaving until I’m sure.” “Okay then . . .you win.” “Thank you.” She picked up her bike then began walking home. Tori followed beside her, carrying her case. “So why are you so tired?” “Well . . .I haven’t been sleeping for the past two days. I’ve just been studying all night.” “You know that’s not good for you.” “I had to pass that test though . . .or else I would be sent back to Cairo!” “That still doesn’t give you any excuse to not get any sleep!” “Man . . .Tori, you’re starting to sound like my family right now . . .” She then turned away and grabbed her case from Tori’s hand. She then walked into the driveway with her bike, and placed it in the garage. She then ran up the stairs and headed into the house, taking off her shoes and storming up to her room. She then goes over and flops down on her bed, then suddenly started to cry into her pillow. Aquilia suddenly appeared from te floor, wondering what that sound was. She then saw Ceaira crying, so she flew down and tapped her on the shoulder. “Are you okay Ceaira?” “No, I’m not . . .I snapped at Tori for no reason . . .he was just concerned about me and I bit his head off . . .” “Oh . . .well, cheer up Ceaira. If he really cares about you, he’ll come around wondering if you’re all right.” “I don’t know . . .I really let him have it . . .I won’t be surprised if he never wanted to speak to me again . . .” Ceaira then rolled over to lay on her back, then stared at the ceiling. She picked up a stuffed animal resembling a bald eagle, and then held it tightly. “He was one of the first people I met here . . .and look what happened, it’s only been a week and I blew it already . . .” “Don’t worry about it. He doesn’t sound like that. Why don’t you take a nap until supper? It’ll refresh your mind and body, and then later you can go talk to Tori.” “You’re right Aquilia, that would be the best thing to do . . .” Ceaira then placed her case on the floor, ans the stuffed animal back on the shelf. She then rolled over onto her side and allowed herself to fall asleep. Aquilia smiled, and then headed out of the room to give her a quiet atmosphere.
As she slept, the only sound heard was the clock ticking every second away. The window was open, allowing the breeze to blow her light blue curtains around. She slept peacefully, unaware of anything happening around her. Suddenly, tiny shards of purple light appeared, and sparked above her head. They floated there momentarily before disappearing into her body. She continued to sleep, not knowing about the strange light at all.
“Huh? Where am I . . ?” Ceaira found herself in darkness once again. She then rubbed her eyes as they were heavy from fatigue. When she removed her hands from her face she saw herself in a dark forest, but she realized it was no ordinary forest. The trees bore leaves of crystal, and the trees were made of clear crystal themselves. The sun shone clear through them, creating a beautiful reflection of light on the ground. Ceaira gasped and looked around, but then realized she was holding something. She looked down at her right hand to see that she was holding her crossbow. “Why is my crossbow in this form?” She then looked down at herself to see that she was wearing her entire battle costume. She gasped then looked around. “Why am I wearing my ceremonial clothes?” She looked around, wondering where she was. She then stepped forward and began walking down the path in front of her. She suddenly heard the sound of laughter. She suddenly stopped, then gasped at what she saw.
Up ahead was an image of her younger self, playing around the trees with another girl with blue hair and green eyes. Ceaira gasped then slowly walked over to them, trying to hear what they were saying. “Come on Hannya! I wanna show you that flower!” “I’m coming Ceaira!” The two then ran off, leaving Ceaira shocked and scared. “That was me . . .four years ago . . .and that was Hannya . . .my sister . . .what is this place?” She decided to follow the two and see what was going on. She began to run after then, but somehow the two were able to faster than she was. They finally stopped at the edge of the forest, where Ceaira stopped as well. There was a small cliff, but covered in rocks so it was still dangerous. The two were kneeling down in front of a beautiful flower with blue petals. Ceaira walked closer to look at the flower. “What is going on? Why does this seem so familiar?” Ceaira then looked to the ground to see a small scarab. It was black with a gold design on it’s shell. Ceaira watched it crawl over to the two, then suddenly she gasped. “Oh no! This is how Hannya was poisoned!” The two girls then stood up and wiped off their clothes, unaware the scarab was getting closer. Ceaira reacted, knowing she had to save her, by running forward and leaping into the air. “Look out Hannya!” She tried pushing her out of the way, but for some reason she passed right through the black haired girl. Ceaira then found herself rolling down the side of the cliff against the rocks, but as she rolled she heard a scream. She looked up to see Hannya fall to the ground, with the younger Ceaira asking her over and over again if she was okay. “No! That was what happened . . .I tried to save her . . .”
Ceaira continued to roll down the cliff, then finally landed at the bottom. She remained still for a few moments, but then slowly rose to her feet. She looked around to see a wasteland, with destroyed buildings and dying plantation. “I wonder where I am now . . .”
Aquilia was flying upstairs, carrying with her a small tray holding two cupcakes. “Maybe this will cheer Ceaira up a little, even though it’s close to supper and she really shouldn’t eat one yet . . .which reminds me, I should wake her up now.” She then flew into the room and placed the tray on the desk. She then flew over to Ceaira and shook her shoulder gently. “Come on GemCaptor, time for supper.” She waited a few moments, but to her puzzlement, she refused to wake up. She then shook her shoulder again, only this time a little harder. “Ceaira, time to wake up.” Again, Ceaira refused to awaken. Aquilia became nervous. She then flew down to her face, then frowned. “I hate to have to resort to this . . .” Aquilia raised a wing and then slapped Ceaira in the face a few times before stopping. She then sighed depressingly, for Ceaira was still asleep. “Ceaira . . .why are you doing this?” She took a wing then lifted her eyelid open, then gasped. The eye was completely white and one shade of purple. The pupil was missing, and there was no shine. Aquilia released the grip then flew backwards, totally afraid. She then rose into the air and quickly flew out of the room. “Misuteri! I need you to call someone!”
Ceaira wandered down what looked like to be a street, wondering what town she was in. As she walked by, she saw buildings totally destroyed, as well as turned cars, broken windows, and so far, no people. She then headed into what looked like to be a school. Looking around, she saw a sign. “Hmm . . .maybe that will give me an idea as to where I am . . .” She walked over to the sign, then suddenly gasped at what she saw. The sign simply read Reidenton High School. Ceaira suddenly backed up and gasped, not being able to believe her own eyes. “Reidenton . . . Destroyed? How can that be? I was here capturing the gems!” Ceaira’s legs became very weak, so she suddenly dropped down onto them. She as well dropped her crossbow, and then buried her hands in her face. “I failed . . .”
She suddenly looked up to hear the sounds of crying. Wanting to know who it was for some reason, she stood back up and picked up her crossbow. She then wandered toward the school, then made her way into the backyard. She gasped when she saw Sakura and Li. Both were wearing tattered and dirty clothes, and their faces were covered in dirt and scars. “What happened to them?” Ceaira then became quiet as she listened to the two. “Why did Ceaira have to return to Cairo . . ?” “Her father ordered her to after she failed her English Test . . . now the gems rule the entire planet and have destroyed most of it . . .” “I can’t believe it happened . . .” Ceaira gasped then turned to run away. Tears flowed from her eyes as she hurried down the street. “I can’t believe what I’m seeing and hearing. I failed the test, and the gems took over because of it . . .I let everyone down . . .” She suddenly stopped in the middle of the street, then wiped her eyes dry. She then looked around and frowned. “It’s all my fault . . .” She suddenly heard a scream emitting from somewhere behind her. She turned to see a giant monster fighting Li and Sakura. Li was in the monster’s grasp, and he was trying desperately to free himself. As she ran toward them, she saw the monster causing a dark energy to flow into Li’s body. As the energy disappeared, Li’s body suddenly went limp. His sword fell to the ground, and Sakura screamed out. “LI! NO!” Ceaira stopped beside her and looked back up at the monster, who tossed the lifeless body of Li aside. “What’s going on Sakura!?” For some reason, she did not respond. She suddenly leaped up at the monster and summoned Power and Fly. She desperately tried to fight, but the monster was somehow immune. Sakura gasped, but then suddenly the monster grabbed her and sent the same energy flowing into her body. “NO! SAKURA!” Ceaira watched in horror as her body became lifeless as well, causing her to drop the Sealing Wand. She was tossed aside, then monster turned it’s attention to Ceaira. She gasped and then aimed her crossbow. “Gem! Return to your power confined!” She fired the arrow used to seal all of her gems, but unfortunately for her it simply bounced off of it’s chest. The monster laughed, then fired a beam of energy at the ground. It broke up, causing Ceaira scream and to fall into an abyss of darkness.
“I don’t know why she won’t wake up . . .” Aquilia sobbed as Sakura and Li looked over Ceaira carefully as she slept. Li opened her eyelid and saw the same eye condition. “She’s in some kind of trance . . .what’s causing it I have no clue.” “Aquilia, do you think it could be a Kayo Gem?” “I never thought of that . . .but there are three possibilities . . .” “And they are?” “Sleep, Dream, or Nightmare.” “I have an idea.” Sakura held her Sealing Wand, then pulled out a card. She held it in front of her with her eyes closed, and turned the image outward to face away from her to show a young girl holding a mirror in front of her. She then tossed it forward and then began twirling the wand. “Mirror Card . . . show us what Ceaira sees in her slumber.” She finished twirling as the card stopped in front of her. She raised the wand above her head, then brought it down, causing the point to slam against the card’s image. “Mirror Card! Release and dispel!” Waves of energy and light appeared and travelled outward as she held the position. Clear light suddenly emerged from the card, swirling all around her. A mirror then appeared hovering above Ceaira’s head. The three looked through it to see her laying on a large tree root in her battle costume and holding her crossbow. “Looks like the Dream Gem . . .” “Let’s keep watching, just incase.” “Good idea.”
Ceaira was just starting to wake up from her fall. She held her head as she rose, still wondering what was going on. she looked around and gasped, for she knew the scene now. She once again found herself in the same temple, with the same trees and the same river. “I wonder what will happen here . . .” She stepped down from the tree root, then looked up ahead to the large cherry blossom tree to see the girl once again. Ceaira looked, then began walking closer to her, wanting to know who she was. The girl rose from the root and turned around. Ceaira gasped then walked along the root a little more. “It is you, isn’t it?” “Yes. I’m Hannya . . .your sister.” “But . . .you died four years ago . . .” “I know, I’m just her spirit. I’ve come back to give you something. Come closer.” Ceaira smiled, feeling so happy that she could see her older sister again. She ran over eager to find out what she was about to receive. She stopped so she was standing in front of her. “What do you want to give me?” “It’s in the river. Why not go in and take a look?” Ceaira nodded, then crawled down a different tree root. She jumped off to land by the river’s edge. She started walking in, wondering what was in a river that Hannya would want to give her. Suddenly, she heard a snicker coming from behind her. She stopped when the water was up to her waist. She turned around to see Hannya giggling to herself, with an evil expression on her face. “I can’t believe I was able to fool you that easily!”
Suddenly, ropes of ice shot up from out of the water and wrapped around Ceaira, pinning her arms to her sides. She was then lifted out of the water so she was hanging in the air. Ceaira gasped then looked down at Hannya. “What are you doing!?” “Taking you out so the Kayo Gems may rule the world! Ever heard of what happens if you fall in a dream from off a cliff and hit the bottom? You die! So by killing you here, you’ll die in real life!” The ice then suddenly began to squeeze Ceaira’s body tightly. She cried out as she felt the pain, then looked down at Hannya. “Wait a minute . . .there’s something different about you . . .” She looked down at her face, then gasped at what she saw. On her forehead was a strange star symbol which started to glow. “You’re not really Hannya are you!? You’re one of the Kayo Gems!” “Correct!” Hannya suddenly became engulfed in a black smoke, causing her to disappear. When the smoke vanished, there was a man standing on the tree root, holding a strange staff that had a crystal ball on the top. His face was hidden by a black cloak which hid his entire body, except for his hands and feet. “Now I shall eliminate the GemCaptor!” He waved a hand over the staff, causing the crystal ball to glow. The ropes of ice suddenly sparked with electricity and then became engulfed in it. Ceaira screamed out as the harmful energy flowed into her body. The man smirked then slammed the tip of the staff onto the root, causing more energy to flow into her body.
Back in her room, the others watched in horror as they saw Ceaira being hurt so badly. Aquilia flew up so she was right above the mirror and glared at him. “I know now! He’s the Nightmare Gem!” “What does it do?” “It creates horrible dreams which can literally scare someone to death. He’s trying to kill Ceaira there instead of here because he thinks it easier.” “Is there any way to help her?” “No. The Nightmare Gem has her trapped in his world of nightmares. Only Ceaira can get herself out.” “I hope she can do it . . .”
Back in the temple, Ceaira was about ready to pass out, for she found she had no way of winning against the Nightmare Gem’s powers. She began to weaken, then started going limp, for she was about to pass out. Suddenly, she heard a voice inside her head. “Ceaira . . .” She suddenly returned to a full state of readiness as she heard it. “Who is that?” “It’s Hannya . . .I’ve come to aid you . . .” “How do I know the Nightmare Gem isn’t trying to trick me again?” “Trust me . . .you have before the scarab bit me . . .your armlet’s are not just ceremonial . . .they can use the magic you possess as well. Concentrate your abilities into them, then cast the spell. The Nightmare Gem won’t expect you to do that.” “Very well . . .” Ceaira then closed her eyes and began concentrating. The energy then became visible in the gold designs. She then suddenly let out a war cry, and shot a large ball of energy from her armlets. It flew with the speed of a cheetah, and collided with the Nightmare Gem’s staff. The crystal cracked, causing the ropes to shatter and free her. She fell and landed on the tree root, then held up her crossbow. “You’re time of freedom is over Nightmare Gem!” “I think not!” The crystal repaired itself, then he used the staff to cast a spell which sent a ball of fire flying at her. Ceaira however, was able to jump up into the air, and at the peak of the jump, she lifted her crossbow to eye level and concentrated her energy into the special arrow. “Nightmare Gem! Return to your power confined!” She fired, letting the arrow fly like the wind. It then bursted into a cloud of white light which surrounded the gem’s form, causing him to become nothing but energy. The two energies merged, then disappeared to leave behind a gem. It bounced onto the tree root, then over to Ceaira, who caught it and examined it. The image she saw was of the cloaked man holding the staff with both hands, surrounded by a strange black smoke. She sighed to herself then felt a tap on her shoulder. she turned around to see Hannya standing there, wearing what the fake was wearing, but this time glowing. “Thank you for trusting me there. I know you had no reason to considering what just happened.” “I know. You know, dad and I miss you a lot.” “I know, I miss both of you too.” Ceaira smiled then hugged her sister, who hugged back as well. Hannya then pulled away and smiled. “I have to go now. You should wake up before your friends worry too much.” “Thanks for helping me Hannya.” “No problem. What are sisters for right?” “Yeah.” Hannya smiled then floated up toward the ceiling of the temple. She then entered one of the cracks of light and disappeared out of sight. Ceaira watched and wiped away the tears from her eyes. She then laid down on the tree root and went to sleep, hoping that was what it would take to wake up.
Back in the real world, Sakura and Aquilia were crying from what they watched. Li came back in with a box of tissue’s for the both of them. “Need these?” “Yeah . . .”Sakura removed a tissue from the box and wiped her eyes, then blew her nose. Aquilia did the same, then looked back down at Ceaira. “Think she’ll wake up soon?” “Well, she can’t stay like that forever, right?” “I hope she wakes up soon . . .”
Suddenly, they heard a strange groan. The three looked over toward the bed to see Ceaira rolling over onto her back. She opened her eyes, sat up, and looked around. “Am I back?” “Ceaira!” Sakura, Li, and Aquilia suddenly tackled her and hugged her tightly. Ceaira laughed and hugged back. “Oh help me! I’m being attacked by a bird and two CardCaptors!” Everyone laughed then backed away from her to give her some room. “Are you all right Ceaira?” “Yeah, I’m fine.” She nodded, then looked down at her left hand to see the gem she had just captured. She smiled then rose to walk over to her desk. She then opened it and removed the Kayo Chest, then placed the gem inside. “That makes nine captured . . .” “Really? So about . . .51 or more to go at least?” “Yeah.” “By the way, we saw what happened when you captured Nightmare . . .how did your sister die?” “Scarab bite . . .there wasn’t any known cure at that time.” “Oh . . .we’re so sorry . . .” “It’s okay. She watches over me now it seems. She saved me from Nightmare after all.” “Really?” “Yeah. I miss her so much, because she was like my best friend, seeing as we moved a lot.” “Well, we’re glad you’re okay. We’ll let you get some rest I guess.” “Sakura’s right. You looked like you really went through something.” “Tell me about it . . .I saw scenes from my past . . .a false premonition . . .and of course the temple where Nightmare almost had me . . .Aquilia . . .” “Yes?” “The gems want me dead for some reason . . .but why?” “I honestly have no idea. Well, we’ll leave you alone for now. Get some rest okay?” “Okay. Wake me up in an hour for supper all right?” “Sure thing. See you later Ceaira.” “Yeah.” Ceaira nodded then curled up again to go to sleep. The others quietly made their way out of her room and then closed the door behind them. Before she dozed off however, she sat up and picked up a small statuette. It had on it an eagle positioned as if it was flying through the sky. She winded it and placed it back on the top of her bed beside the alarm clock, then laid back down to go to sleep. As she slept, the statuette played a quiet, peaceful song.

The Kayo Gems

“Each gem that is captured has a mystical seal . . .a new mystifying gem today we shall reveal . . .”
The Kayo box is dark blue with the image of a golden eagle on the lid. It suddenly flipped opened and tipped over, causing all the gems inside to spill out onto the ground. they all bounced around, but one landed and spun around on one side. It then fell over into it’s flat side to reveal the image to be a small object with two wings attached.
      “Move Gem!”
Sakura and Ceaira are searching the school for Kero and Aquilia, who seem to keep appearing and disappearing. Li comes along to join the search. They make their way into the gymnasium where Kero and Aquilia are about to vanish again, but Sakura summons the Time Card to freeze time except for the three. Ceaira then makes her way over to the two and captures the gem. The Move Gem is then shown again before bursting into a grey light.

Kero’s Corner

“Hey there Card fans! It’s once again time for Kero’s Corner, where I bring to you the behind-the-scene, inside-track, just-between-you-and-me, lowdown scoop on Ceaira’s battle costume!”
He turns around to face the TV. Holding a remote in his hand, Kero turns on the TV to see Ceaira running through the crystal forest in the nightmare world.
“Ceaira comes from a long line of magicians like Li, so like him, she wears one very special battle costume.”
Kero then changed the channel to show Ceaira in a still position, modelling her costume and holding her crossbow.
“This battle costume is the traditional costume worn when battling against a member of the Reed Family, only Ceaira wears it to capture gems. Like Li, the colours, designs and the accessories all have a special meaning. The gems in the collar, sleeves, and on the boots represent the Kayo Family.”
Kero smiled then flies closer until his face is almost right up again the camera lens.
      “And now, check out this!”
He then changed the channel again to show a picture of Ceaira’s crossbow.
“This is Ceaira’s crossbow. She uses it to battle, summon, and seal the Kayo Gems. It’s the ceremonial weapon of her family, and she keeps it as a pendant, in the form of an arrow used by the archer, Sagittarius. Her family was, and still is, very much into astrology.”
Kero then flies over and sits down in a recliner. He picks up a pipe and blows into it, causing bubbles to pop out and float away, and then looks back toward the camera.
“As stated, Ceaira is the chosen GemCaptor and a descendant of Clow Kayo at the same time, which means she won’t have any rivals competing for the gems like Sakura used to have when the cards were involved. But like I always say, expect the unexpected. See ya!”
He waves then smokes his bubble pipe again as the scene fades out.
