The Sand Gem is very elusive, and dangerous at times depending on the power it uses. It can create sandstorms, objects made of the stuff, or even quicksand (majorly nasty!). It takes on the form of a very large cobra. Sand appears in Episode 6 along with Gravity and together the two gems created quite a few problems for the captors to get out of.
During the battle, Ceaira was not able to hit Sand because of the loss of gravity. This caused her arrows to fly off course. At the same time, Li was trapped in the gem's quicksand on the floor, leaving Sakura to try and pull him out. After careful thinking, Ceaira finally figured out that she had to shoot the arrow from a different direction for the gravity to allow Sand to be hit. When summoned, the cobra appears, or it's powers are applied.
