Beant
College of Engineering and Technology , Gurdaspur was established by
the Government of Punjab through a registered society to provide Technical
Education in emerging areas of Engg. and Technology and especially for the
development of surrounding border areas. In line with the national
policies of globalisation and privatization, the college is laying special
emphasis on Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Training . The
foundation stone of the college was laid on February 28,1994 by Late
Sardar Beant Singh Ji, the then Chief Minister of Punjab. The first
session commenced from August 21, 1995 when 120 students were admitted in
three disciplines, namely Computer Science, Mechanical and Production
Engineering .Presently the college is offering instruction in five
disciplines, namely Computer, Chemical, Electronics, Mechanical and
production Engineering with total intake of 260 students. Further 26
diploma holders in relevant disciplines are admitted under LEET program
directly in second year. Four students are nominated from other states by
M.H.R.D.The college is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Punjab
Technical University, Jalandhar as are the other engineering colleges of
the state.
The College is situated on
Gurdaspur-Pathankot G.T. Road in village Bariar, 4 kilometers away from
the City Bus-stand and 3 kilometers away from the City Railway Station .
Campus is spread over more than 100 Acres.The College has adequate and
well qualified faculty & staff & more is in the process of
recruitment . The Laboratories, Computer Center and Workshops are equipped
with best quality equipment . Till to-date, more than Rs. 28 crors has
been spent on laying the infrastructure. Adequate number of books and
journals have been provided in the College Library.
How to
reach us :
The Gurdaspur
town is well connected by Rail & by Road to various important cities
of the State as well as to the National Capital. It could be approached
from outside by Rail via Amritsar(70 k.m.) or via Pathankot (36 km). By
road the approach is via Jalandhar(110km) & Batala (37 km). Muri
Express connects the City with Delhi & beyond. A few direct buses ply
between Gurdaspur & other important towns like Chandigarh & Delhi.
Hill stations such as Dalhousie(100 km), Dharmshala (120km) & Patnitop
etc.are easily approachable. The nearest airport is at Amritsar.
