Nick looked in the mirror, knowing that over the past two weeks he must have gained a couple pounds because of what he ate. Although he had decent food in the house, he often opted to order a pizza or go out for supper. Plus lunch usually consisted of potato chips or cheesies. He lifted up his t-shirt at stared.
"Man, the guys are gonna flip and tell me I haven't been taking care of myself." Nick moaned. It wasn't totally his fault. There was no one to hang around with. Brian was always too happy with Leighanne, never leaving time for Frick and Frack. Kevin was either at the studio or spending time with Kristen. But that was expected, same with Brian and Leighanne. AJ was always out partying, and Nick wasn't really into that. Howie was just Howie and even though they got along fine, Howie wasn't the guy Nick really wanted to hang out with.
The phone rang and broke Nick out of the gaze he was in. Looking at the clock, it occurred to Nick that he had been looking at his own reflection for almost an hour.
"Hello?" Nick asked into the cordless, while walking out to the kitchen to get something to eat.
"Hey Nick. What are you doing?" Brian's voice came through.
"Nothing much. Just trying to find something to eat." Nick replied, smelling some salsa he pulled out of the fridge.
"Okay. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to do something with me tonight. Leigh went out with some friends for a girls night out to talk about guys and I wasn't invited."
"Duh. Well, I guess so. Do you wanna come down here and we can play video games or something?"
"Sure, maybe even a game of one on one."
"Okay. Sounds like fun. Why don't we say in three hours? The house looks like a natural disaster ran through here. Oh, and pick up a two four." Nick said, getting the nachos from the top shelf.
"No problem. See ya soon Nick."
"Later Bri." Nick replied and threw the phone over to the sofa, then began to eat the nachos and salsa.

"Brian, why didn't you just say you wanted to go over to hang out?" Leighanne asked, disappointed in her husband.
"Nick doesn't like people feeling sorry for him, and won't except that sometimes I would rather spend a day with him instead of with you." Brian looked down at his coffee and sighed. it was only 2 in the afternoon of the last week of a break and Nick didn't sound like his normal self. Usually, he was always excited to know they were going back on the road, but today he sounded almost depressed.
"Do you think that it could have anything to do with his and Cari's breakup?" Leighanne questioned.
"I don't know. He always insists that he is over her. Maybe he was just hungry. He was sitting down to eat when I called. and you know what he can be like when he's hungry." Brian said to himself, Leighanne believing. Brian only wished that he could believe it.
