Chapter 5

"Okay, now everyone change quickly, and no one take too long in the bathroom. We only have 45 minutes before the party starts." Ebony exclaimed as she laid her costume out on the bed.

"I know. This party is going to be so much fun." Melanie smiled, fixating a long black wig on her head.

"Mel, you look so different!" Alice exclaimed, coming out of the bathroom wearing her Minnie Mouse costume.

"Really?" Melanie laughed and Linna ran out of the adjoining room, wearing her costume. She had a long brown wig on with 2 braids in it. She looked as if she had stumbled into a time machine at Woodstock '69.

"Where's Alex?" Linna asked, hoping her friend hadn't chickened out.

"I'm right here." Alex laughed, coming out of the bedroom. She had her dress on, but was having trouble fixing her hair.

"Wow, Alex, you look…" Melanie said.

"Drop dead gorgeous!" Alice laughed.

"Thanks." Alex blushed as she sat down in front of the mirror. Alex took the section of her hair supposedly where bangs were suppose to be, and put each small section in a braid, then pulled each braid back and made them into a bun. "Some one spray my hair please." Alex pleaded and Ebony came with the can of hairspray and sprayed it all over Alex's hair.

"You remind me of Juliet." Linna called from the other side of the room.

"You think so?" Alex asked.

"Yah. Instead of being a princess, be Juliet. If only you had a Romeo." Alice laughed. Alex grew a little sad, as she knew that she only wanted one Romeo. Nick. Everyone broke out in laughter and Alex played along.

At the party, Linna and Alex around together, bumping arms with lots of performers, many of which Alex knew personally.

"I wonder where everyone is." Alex said, out of the blue.

"They have to here somewhere." Linna laughed.

"I absolutely love this dress. Eric found it at a second hand costume shop and picked it up because he thought it would suit me." Alex smiled, not watching where she was going. She didn't realize until it was to late that she had walked into a guy dressed up as a tiger.

"Oh, I am so sorry." He said, turning around.

"Alex?!" Alex laughed noticing that it was AJ McLean.

"Alex? Only one girl calls me that. Alex? Is that you?" AJ exclaimed, noticing that it was his old best friend. When Alex was on tour with him and the boys, her and AJ became the best of friends. After she left the tour, the 2 only kept in touch through e-mail, Nick not knowing though. AJ did not know that Alex still loved Nick.

"I can't believe how much you've changed." Alex exclaimed, giving him a hug.

"You've changed too." AJ laughed. "Who's your hippie friend?"

"Oh, this is Linna. One of my back up dancers, my therapist and best friend." Alex recited.

"Woah. That's some title to put on a résumé." AJ laughed, shaking Linna's hand. "I'm AJ McLean, sex machine extraordinar."

"AJ!" a black hared girl exclaimed and smacked AJ on the arm. She was dressed as a black cat.

"Sorry, Amanda." AJ grinned a cheeky smile. "Alex, Linna, this is my girlfriend, Amanda Latona. Amanda held her hand out and both Linna and Alex shook it.

"You're the singer who was on before the guys today." Amanda said.

"Yeah. AJ and I are, like, best friends because I used to open for them." Alex explained.

"I'm gonna go over and talk to Mel and Alice." Linna told Alex, then left.

"So you're Alexa! I always wondered who this girl Alexa was who always emailed him was." Amanda laughed.

"I'm gonna dance with Juliet here, okay Amanda?" AJ asked as a slow song came on.

"Sure, it was nice meeting you Alex." Amanda said and walked away.

"So how have you been?" AJ asked as the two of them danced.

"Pretty good. How did you know I was suppose to be Juliet?" Alex smiled.

"Lucky guess. I see you still wear the necklace Nick gave you." AJ said, noticing the silver locket around her neck.

"Actually, it kinda went with the costume, so I wore it." Alex lied. She actually never took it off since Nick gave it to her.

"Do you still love him?" AJ asked.

"No. I just wanted to keep it as a token that we had been in love for so long." She lied again.

"Oh. Okay. You do know that he's dating one of our dancers." AJ said. this struck Alex right in the heart.

"I didn't know that, and I really should care if my ex-boyfriend has started dating again or not. It's really none of my business." Alex said, just as the song ended.

"Okay. Come on. I bet the guys are eager to see you." AJ said and pulled Alex through the crowds.

'Oh, no. What have I gotten myself into.' Alex thought to herself.
