"On the Runway…" Pattern Catalog

This new line of patterns carries the label "On the Runway…" as in "fashion show." Exclusive patterns include reproductions of many original vintage Mattel fashions, plus original retro and modern styles for Barbie and family and many other dolls. Vintage reproductions are in the process of being re-mastered from MFB archives and Aileen's Petite Fashions, acquired by MFB in March 1999. Selected new patterns will be released first for Barbie, and then for Gene.
All new patterns come in a white 6" x 9" white envelope with color photo on the front. Pattern pieces are printed on one side of letter- or legal-size paper with an illustrated instruction booklet. Kits are also available on selected patterns so you can reproduce the design with the same luxurious material shown in photos below. Kits include everything you need, including trims and closures.
Please include name of pattern and MFB pattern number when ordering. See section on Ordering.

"Billows"
pattern MFB-2000-BE $4.50 + shipping

"Silver Billows"

"Golden Billows"
I call this original creation "Billows" after the two billowing skirt layers. It is the Christmas doll designed for our 1999 doll club Christmas raffle. Because the style is reflective of earlier fashion eras as well as today, outfits are shown on diverse models: a 1998 Holiday Barbie and a #1 Repro. The one-shouldered gown is fully lined and features a unique side opening. A velveteen bodice is edged with "krinkle" trim. Skirt layers are metallic tissue taffeta. The velveteen stole with corner tassels is lined with matching taffeta, as is the working handbag. Instructions include photos to illustrate custom sewing techniques created for this design. Fits Barbie. Cover choice: 1998 Holiday Barbie or #1 Repro Barbie. A version for Gene is in preparation.

"Mrs Santa Clause"
MFB-2001-BC $5.00 + shippingAlso order the reprint "Santa Clause" vintage pattern for Ken published by MFB in 1971. Just $2.00 + shipping

Two vintage repro Barbies dressed in the traditional Mrs. Santa costume and a variation in holiday plaid with pin-tucked yoke. Slip and pantaloons are included.

Close-up of pin-tucked yoke. Sketch of Santa pattern for Ken.
This "Mrs Santa Clause" pattern is the first pattern re-mastered "from the archives." You'll want to add this to your collection and make your own Mrs. Clause Barbie for a striking Christmas display! First published in MFB in the Holiday Issue of 1971--now refined and updated--and don't forget the matching "Santa Clause" pattern for Ken as a reprint.
Dress Mrs. Santa in the traditional design with apron, dust cap, slip and pantaloons. The dress shown is made of crushed panné (velvet) trimmed with white faux fur on the lower edge and on the sleeves. The collar and pinafore are organza, and the apron is trimmed in lace. A matching dust cap of crushed velvet is also trimmed with lace. A second outfit with variations is suitable for holiday prints, stripes or plaid, and features a round yoke front and long sleeves with elastic at the wrists. The yoke can be plain or pin-tucked (shown in close-up picture above), or "faux" pin-tucking instructions are included as an option.
The matching Santa Clause pattern for Ken fits the New Ken/Brad body type, but could be scaled down to fit the Old Ken (which is on my "to-do" list). The sketch shows the pieces which include the traditional red jacket, hat and pants (made of the same crushed velvet as Mrs. Santa's) are trimmed in white faux fur. Mitts, boots and belt complete the finishing touches for the outfit. These are really cute costumes for the Holiday Season!
