Chapter 4

Gabriella and Antonia stood in the middle of the fairway on the sixth hole. Nick and Brian were taking the longest time on the green and they had to wait.

Antonia turned to Gabriella. "Hey, do you think I can hit Nick from here?"

"Antonia!"

"What? They're taking long enough."

"Look, there they go now. Come on. You're up first."

Antonia glared at Nick and Brian as they walked off to the seventh hole tee. She selected a club out of her bag and successfully hit the ball and it landed only two feet from the cup.

"Good shot," Gabriella said sarcastically.

Antonia shot her a look. "Do better!"

"Okay, I will." Gabriella hit her golf ball and it flew over the green and into the woods.

"Nice job," Antonia smirked.

"Shut up," Gabriella said and the two of them walked down to the green.

"Ah! Ha ha!" Nick cheered.

"I don't believe it," Brian said as his mouth dropped to his ankles.

"Hole in one!" Nick taunted. "Hole in one!"

"You jerk," Brian teased and they walked down the seventh hole so Brian could hit again.

"Come on, Brian," Nick said. "Go faster. I'm already done and I'm getting tired of waiting for you." Nick smiled broadly.

"Oh just shut up!"

Nick smiled and they walked down to the green so Brian could finish.

After the tournament was over, everyone who had participated in the event gathered by the score board. There was a man gathering score cards by the front desk so Gabriella took her card and Antonia's and gave them to the man. As she was walking back, she passed Alex.

"Hey," Alex said.

Gabriella turned around and looked at him. "Hi."

"Gabriella, right?"

"Yup. Alex, right?"

"You got it," he said and smiled. "You have an excellent memory."

Gabriella blushed. "Oh, why thank you."

There was a pause between the two of them.

Alex knew that he should ask her out now. "So I-" But he was cut off by the announcer.

"Okay!" the announcer said. "If everyone could gather around-"

Gabriella and Alex started walking towards the score board.

Antonia started walking towards the scoreboard but bumped into somebody. "Oh I'm sorry," she said and looked up and laughed. "Oh, hi Brian."

He laughed too. "Hey, Toni or should I call you Twinkletoes?"

"Very funny." When Antonia leaned forward from laughing she quickly caught eyes with Nick who was standing next to Brian. "Oh, hello...Nick."

Nick bit his lip. "Hello...Antonia."

Brian threw his arms around Antonia and Nick. "So Toni, how do you think you did?"

Antonia felt a little weird with Brian's arm slung so tightly around her shoulder but it was actually quite comforting. "Actually, I played my best round today. I almost got a hole in one on the seventh hole."

Brian and Nick exchanged glances.

"Rumor has it," Antonia continued, "that someone got a hole in one, today, on that hole."

Nick opened his mouth to brag to her that he had been the one that gotten the hole in one, but she interrupted him.

"I would love to meet the person that did that." Antonia laughed. "I can really respect anyone that can do that!"

"I'm ready to announce the winners of this year's tournament!" the announcer spoke up. "Okay, the winner in the woman's division is...Antonia Genzyme!" Everyone clapped as Antonia jumped and screamed and hugged Brian. "And the winner for our men's division, who by the way, shot a hole in one-"

Oh I can't wait to find out who! Antonia thought.

"The men's winner is...Nick Carter!" Nick jumped up and hugged Brian, also. "Congradulations you two! The club house is sponsering both of you to go for a week in the all state tournament!"

Nick and Antonia stopped laughing at stared at each other. They both knew that they would now have to spend a week, competing, alone, together, away from everyone else.
