Let's fight 'BIG OIL'... Here's how..

(3a)The 4 photos above are existing prototype electric cars.(See www.evac.ca for more data.) The first is a Chrysler Epic, then a Chevrolet Triax, a Honda Insight and a Ford Th!nk . Beautiful cars, but you can't go far with them(150 miles)without having to wait hours while recharging them. Instead as you may notice, the pictures were altered showing a substantial battery measuring a square meter by 25cm high mounted in cavities in the front (and rear)to permit a quick insertion and extraction and which have been globally accepted (see below)as a standard battery also using but one voltage. The content may vary, providing various brand choices, but like present gas stations we'll have that option to choose and 'refuel'in a minute. More info on 'THE FINAL CHOICE' battery will be added to these pages later. As we see in the lower part of the image above, as further transitions to electric vehicles occur, even highway swap stations can at a higher rate volume provide us with whatever quick replacement energy the world would need even in any country. For the source of that energy requirement see ("Global solar energy system" in (index 10.html). Click at the bottom of this page). Also see index3b.html to provide access to buses, truck, vans, and autos using all the same batteries (quantities vary)stop for a quick 'refueling' and are then on their way again. The simplicity of these new vehicles having motors within the wheel itself, the only moving part with no gear trains or any other components makes the electric autos even lighter even with the inclusion of the batteries.(cont.)

It can become a 30 trillion dollar global infrastructure providing millions of new jobs within a ten year transitional period and without any detrimental effects. The present high gas prices are being generated to raise cash in a hurry to prevent new competitive entrepreneurs to seize this new opportunity so that they (big Oil) can monopolize it with their greedy friends and be in a position to control us once more. "It's time for the 'ELOI' to stand up and take on those 'MARLOCKS'once and for all before we're devoured." In the early 1900's many self propelled "Carriages" were substituting the horse with home made powered wagons using charcoal, steam, fossil fuels, even batteries. Finally gas was chosen as an inexpensive standard source for quick replenishment in a few minutes to proceed the journey with access anywhere. Today with the planet in danger a new standard is required. For the last few decades, again many new ideas are being tried and suggested such as fuel cell, hybrids, etc. and all have limited possibilities. The electric autos such as the GM's EV-1, Solectria, and many others have proven to be the equal of present cars today other than for the need to recharge them which can take several hours. They are the preferred way to go.All that's needed then is standard size and voltage batteries readily available at exchange stations (like the present service stations today)where they are recharged and replaced automatically in only one minute (Having developed automatic equipment for over 40 years, I'll design the simple machines if need be.See my resume in index1a.html). One EV vehicle, the Solectria went from Boston to N.Y.C. on one charge using A nickel metal hydride 'Ovonic' battery. Using two per swap gives us a 500 mile range and in time even more. 'BIG OIL' knows this and they want it all.Let's fight them all the way to Washington and other governments and watch them back down on their price gouging at the pump. And let's provide new possibilities and opportunities for entrepreneurs the world over to participate.Three years ago GM's EV-1 cost six times less than one of their equivalent 'gas' cars to go a given distance. At the cost per gallon now...maybe 10 times less. The next argument is where to get the power to charge all those batteries??...simple see (index10.html)in this web site. It's an inert global solar energy system set up in deserts and connected with superconductor cables the world over with no moving parts. And it's free forever with all nations...shareholders proportional to their consumption requirement. We don't want nuclear catastrophies such as we saw in Chernobyl (Russia) and the close call in Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania. Tell Washington...no way should we maintain the Status Quo!.... THAT'S HOW WE FIGHT "BIG OIL"

UNTIL ELECTRIC VEHICLES ARE THE NORM HERE IS AN INTERIM SOLUTION TO PROTECT THE PLANET AND MINIMIZE FUEL CONSUMPTION USING A FLYWHEEL SPUN UP BY THE ENGINE TO STORE ENERGY TO RESTART IT AT THE NEXT STOP, AND SO ON.

SEE BELOW...When the auto stops the engine shuts off and a flywheel starts it up again upon pressing the pedal. Since this was released several years past Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, I believe, and others have begun using an electric motor to do the same and which is more intricate. Here's how it'll work(Cont.)

(1)The electric vehicles above are powered by a removeable and rechargeable battery which fits into all vehicles.Unlike the various concepts of the recent past where every car had to be plugged in for an extensive amount of time, even several hours, these give you the same convenience we have now and the're in and out of the battery exchange station in a minute leaving the spent ones to be recharged in a flow pattern and passed on to another vehicle later..

(2)This second page above can give us an idea as to how an infrastructure could progressively develop to permit a global transition to electric vehicles without any effect financially on the change-over for the future. Without it ,forget it, there is no future. If we can't breathe there is none.

(3)The image above "Auto-matic-swap"illustrates a variety of exchange towers for battery charging and exchanging.Either for initial and low volume needs as well as high ones such as parkway stations for trucks and buses also.

(4)This is was article in'StreetRag'April 14 ,95,There are only four moving parts in this vehicle...only the wheels.Within each wheel is an electric motor and thus....a four wheel drive. Each also is supported from the top like aircraft landing wheels permitting each of them to be steered through a dual and redundant hydraulic system controlled thru its computer to perform at times different tasks. Since the vertical pivots have a rotating cylinder within it permits at least a 180 degree motion,90 degrees each side of the forward motion and also various commands to for instance park sideways on the streets with no more back and forth motions to park and thus permitting more parking slots for the public. Also in the drive mode the car has the option of a front wheel(s) only steering or an 'all wheels' steering which some cars presently have. With the computer responding to the driver's command positioning a theoretical axis or fulcrum point all wheels position themselves with the wheel axle in line to it.Even in one's back yard the car can spin around 'on a dime' and then exit forward onto the street safely.Of course in those various modes the car speed is regulated to speeds not exceeding more than a few kilometers an hour. In the vertical pivot shaft above the wheel, the rotary cylinder is mounted within a coil spring and shock absorber while keeping a reasonable low profile in order to minimize protrusions above the hood which could affect driver's visibility. One possibility to minimize energy consumption is to control the torque of the motor without energy loss heat loss.By using three coils small, medium, and large as shown in the sketch. It provides simultaneously ... in each wheel, five different torque ranges . The first speed, by energizing all three coils gives the torque required for start off, then with less power needed. The above shows the electric car with many new features.Notice ,top left, the side doors, unlike DeLorean 'swing wing',slide upwards and over the roof typical to many present van model whose rear doors swung out and back but also in close proximity (a few inches) to the body. Here you raise the door get in on one side ,pull that door down then repeat the same on the other side using the same guide track for either rear window (door) opens upwards permitting, on a six seater, entrance to the back from the rear.this permit the rear passengers especially kids great protection in any collisions due to the fact the're facing backwards. These towers above, left, which permit the batteries to flow through them while being recharged are relatively simpler and smaller than those shown for highway stations including vans and semis side loading methods also (see index3a.html)In the perspective view the EV car drives onto a turntable, butts against the tower ,the front battery is extracted to the 2nd stack which once checked for possible recharge and remaining energy which is simultaneously raised one level while the front stack is lowered proportionately, then permitting a transfer at the top from rear to front as well as a new insertion at the bottom into the front of the vehicle. The car is then rotated 180 degrees and the same is repeated in the rear. then it drives off for another 500 miles where then within a minute the sequence is repeated. And so on and so on. A 'solectria' EV car using nickle metal hydride batteries and occupying no more space than one of these batteries went from Boston to New York on one charge, equal to 250 miles (400km)

IMAGE NO.6 BELOW

(5)The above shows the electric motor in each wheel. only the hub and tire rotate on all four wheels. The sketch at left is a retake of 'rag no.58'It's a cross-section of a motor and generator concept on a previous idea for an electric bike. The electric vehicle wheel shown here is somewhat of the same principle and all four are identicle. But it is airtight with dirt seals and has a hinged front cover facing outward which can be opened to replace,if ever need be, one of the six coils (3 on each side)or to repair a flat tire or replace it. Like an aircraft wheel the axle is mounted from one side and the turning axis and suspension is dead center above the wheel. This could then permit with electronic controls and dual(as a fail safe system)controls. With such a system we could then program all types of possibilities such as in a stopped mode, turn all wheels 90 degrees sideways and with a programmed low speed 'crawl'mode the car sideways into even a tight parking spot. In your back yard you'd command a theoretical pivot axis point upon which all wheels become perpendicular to it and depending which way you want to turn 2 on one side propel forward while the others backwards and thus in a very small space the car turns on itself ready to leave your driveway.Just command a different pivot point you could still turn in small spaces. The possibilities are quite numerous.Depending how we provide power to the wheels could provide us with various torque ranges even without varying the voltage. The chart at bottom right gives us an idea of how it can work.here it gives 5 'speeds' with no gears needed. (cont)xxxxxxxxxxxOne possibility to minimize energy consumption is to control the torque of the motor without energy loss or heat loss.By using three coils small, medium, and large in each wheel, five different torque ranges are available. The firstspeed, by energizing all three coils gives the maximum torque required for start off, then as less power is needed the computer shuts off the first,or smallest coil with only the two outer ones energized, as acceleration increases and less torque is needed again the second ,or intermediate one shuts off leaving only the outer one activated. that's the third speed and as acceleration increases again that third one ,the outer, shuts down as the intermediate only takes over and finnally again only the smallest or the fifth speed is the high gear engaging all four wheels coasting at higher speeds. Should more power be required for upper inclines or acceleration automatically the process and sequence reverses itself. The following are some existing patents of other "in-wheel EV motors". (6)TURNING ON A DIME! WELL...If you're in your backyard and want to get out in a hurry you no longer need to back out worrying each time if you'll ride on the grass, scrape the paint on the brushes or back into moving traffic. Instead you enter your programmed command for an axial rotation with the fulcrum point dead center between all wheels. Having typical designs to aircraft wheels this can now permit a 180 degree rotation within a very small space in the driveway and thus permitting exiting in a forward direction and in a safer manner. Also entering parking spots sideways directly without back and forward motions.(cont)

(7)Here's one for the road.. "YOU'RE DRUNK!"...She said....So,I pushed the button on the dash board and slid the controls over to her."YOU DRIVE!"..I said. It entails the console, the steering wheel, and the pedals. An entire package that slides across on steel bars. Since the floor is flat ,one can even sit in the center and ride the highways in a safer position in case of accidents, especially if driving alone. Should an Englishman go to France through the Chunnel ,once there he switches the controls over and moves to the opposite seat and drives on the other side of the road. Also, any manufacturing company could sell their EV's to any country without the need of special tooling to accommodate various countries regulations and saving $billions in the process. The vehicle is now universal and can be sold anywhere without additional costs.Over 50 countries drive on the left side of the road (one third of the world population),all the others drive on the 'right' side. For a listing

(8) (ABOVE) A GLOBAL STANDARD EV BATTERY...Rather than the usual notion that every one thinks they have the best "mouse trap" and going nowhere with it, there's just as much money to be made by standardizing one battery that fits all EV's for size and voltage and interchange with all charging-exchange stations anywhere around the world . the contents become irrelevent as long as they meet global standards established at a meeting by all Departements Of Transpotation from every country.(cont)

(8a) This car above is the an electric car made by SAAB and produced for Ford. They've named it Th!nk and has a 50 mile range. But all that will change once we make the batteries removeable for swapping at service stations as we'll see below(cont)

(8aa)(Here's its side view)Due to its small size it could use only one (standard) battery and yet have quite a range before swapping again. When it is loaded maybe at the front it turns 180 degrees on turntables like in image 8f below and leaves instead of picking another (front and rear)like bigger and heavier EVs that travel further. With swap stations progressively replacing gas pumps range between swaps won't be much of a concern because of their accessability then.

(8aaa)The photos above are of recent models and they all have a big long horizontal low cavity in the front. As you may notice the auto industry is getting the hint and may even know what you don't.The interim 'hybrids' substituting the 'charge at home'EV's and gas autos of today will be replaced by standard size swap batteries and the insertion of them at swap stations in the front and rear of all autos. They are accustomizing us to the open slot required for that swap and we'll see it soon. GM's AUTOnomy car whose 'skateboard' carrier which by then will use those swap batteries also is, although the're not telling you, the prelude to the insertion of its passenger capsules into my high speed 'maglev'concept shown in index4 to index6 in following pages and cannot have explosive fuels riding those evacuated elevated high speed (up to 2000 MPH)tube guideways.(continued)

(8c)Again in the 2 photos above is the TH!NK EV available now .The 2nd one is shown with front and rear cavities to permit quick exchange of recharged batteries to permit travel without concern of running out of power thus permitting taking long trips as we presently do with gas operated vehicles. The following Images will show us how the changes can occur through a progressive transition by providing sufficient means for both modes, gas and swap batteries even at existing stations .Like the horse and buggy made the switch to gas operated vehicles , the same will evolved for EV's. They don't....they'll be left behind. Installing the towers in shopping malls or any parking facility even on the streets and highways would be relatively inexpensive as we can see above in image 3. (cont)

(8d)Above is a typical gas station with 2 gas pump islands requiring attendants and maintenance crews for servicing the various complexities that goes with the gas engines and hybrid cars. Today 2002 Nothing much has changed to protect the planet and also reduce the use of combustible fuels refined from oil. A depleting source which should best be preserved for many more years for other purposes such as lubricants ,polymers ,plastics, etc. In other words what's in the ground is "money in the Bank" where the price per barrel 50 years from now, used for other applications could be worth today's prices tenfold then.(cont)

(8e)Above is a typical gas station (cont)

(8f) --It's now year 2006 and were moving to the change over to simpler and safer vehicles. In image 4 way above is a previous Street Rag sketch showing a low volume E.V. battery exchange and recharge station using a standardized concept battery as shown is applied in Image 8f just above and in 8g just below. (One size, one voltage. The content or range are irrelevent, the customer will determine his or her preference.)As you may noticed in these two images one island has been removed and replaced by 3 low volume battery exchange towers. This top view shows 3 EVs at each tower in progress of swapping batteries.Behind the towers is the battery company truck which once a month or whenever its called for comes to the station to replenish the reserve 3rd stack with brand new ones while taking the old and no longer rechargeable ones back to the factory to be reprocessed using the salvageable materials to make new ones. That truck is automatically positioned to interface with the rear of the towers to make that exchange also.Like the buses and semis in page 3b,click at bottomthis truck can be positioned by an indexer alingning the battery replenishment.Image 8g below shows a pictorial view of EV batteries in progress of being swapped.(cont)

(8g) As the public realize the advantage and simplicity of the EV vehicle and the advantage of the swap station convenience all hell will break loose and those unprepared had better get ready. Remember the key..Standardize the battery globally ...standard interfacing of all vehicles to all towers also and we have a $30 trillion dollar possiblity looking straight at us. P.S. Whenever they are ready ,I know exactly how I can design those units ---see my port-folio in index1a.html. Just change the 3 above for a 1 in the ADDRESS LINE at the top of the screen above ,then click "ENTER" and see some products and automated systems I developed for many corporations through the years..then come back and continue into page 3b. (8h)Above is another typical Mobil gas station on 42nd st at 10th ave NE corner. Presently as we can see, the vehicles gas tanks are being filled at exxisting(cont)

(8i)Above is the same station altered for battery exchanging (cont)

(8j)The vehicle in the image above at the New York International Auto Show was one of several with aluminum (or stainless steel) bodies such as the YES! car ,the Hirklan, both new small beginning companies. Their finished surfaces were buffed in a linear pattern giving the cars a nice surface. A suggestion was made to them of an alternate texture which was used at the entry to Verizon's cellular store on 6th and 42nd where the erxterior wall panels were randomly scuffed with emery sanding discs giving quite a flashy look as shown in the image below. They told me that they would take a look at them.(cont)

(8k)As mentioned in the image (8h) above the panels reflect the light differently as viewers position changes relative to it,giving them a fluctuating pattern.(cont)

(8l)Here also on the Lindberg plane 'Spirit of St. Louis' the finished surface is more of a circular pattern(cont)

(8m)The Kirkham model above is also a polished aluminum surface and one of their representative was giving it a linear rubdown. I suggested to both carmakers to coat the surfaces with with a transparent poly urethane like on floors protecting the surface keep its luster. This car reminded me of an old car I was converting into a future design.See the small sketch shown just above it. That was in 1950. I had begun using a 1938 ford frame ,adapted a brand new 1950 Mercury engine block($205.00 Canada dollars). After some night classes at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts using clay and plaster molds of live models, busts, nudes, I decided to make a futuristic car such as in the sketch above and make a full size one. The driver was ,as shown seated at the center, it had no doors (hop over). If it rained a zippered dome roof under air pressure with bleeder relief valves would be used to keep it up using pressure from air ducts when in motion and an air blower when stopped for a light. When you would get out, you would unzip the roof hop out then zip it closed during the rain. Back home in the garage you zip the entire roof off after you let it dry then fold it and put it in your glove compartment. the rear end of the design had a curved shape like most new models today. The front had protruding headlights with parking ,low, and high beams and the nose slightly curved with radiator grill at a lower position. Templates were being drawn up from the model to make an inverted mold for a fiberglas body .When I was offered a new job in New Jersey in 1954 a year went by when someone bought the car put the old 38 rumble seat body on it and used the souped up engine and all to 'stockcar' race with it. He'd win most of them. The Future Car was never finished.. but the zip on roof can still be applied to these new cars I mentioned at the N.Y.auto show including it being used on future convertibles for all companies should they wish. Don't forget to tell them to cut me in on it,I got many other ideas to show them also.
