TEACHERS: Instructional Presentation Ideas for Spanish Art
In this segment of the website, teachers can introduce works of art representative of Spain, Colombia, and Mexico. Classroom instruction will focus on:

  • Pablo Picasso's Hand with Bouquet

  • Fernando Botero's Still Life with Watermelon

  • Diego Rivera's Landscape with Cactus

Students will be able to:

  • Describe a painting

  • Develop an opinion

  • Identify the artist

Idea for Science lesson plans extension:
Students can plant their own seeds and watch them grow. Students then draw or paint a picture of their own plant. Using the vocabulary learned to describe paintings, students can write a description of their own paintings. Other students can write opinions about each other's paintings. These student-created paintings, descriptions, and opinions can be presented to the class in the target language.
