Adding Custom Music

Adding custom music to Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel is an unsupported modification. Technical Support cannot answer questions

relating to modifications of Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel or the operation of third party utilities.

The following is provided for informational purposes only.

What you will need:

* Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel installed on your hard disk drive.

* Uncompressed WAV files or a third-party utility program that can convert your music files to WAV or OGG format.
* Sufficient hard disk space for the converted files
Convert Your Files:

Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel (HT18WoS) can play music saved in the Ogg Vorbis (.OGG) or uncompressed WAV audio format. Any music files you wish to listen to while playing Hard Truck must be converted to one of these formats.
There are a number of audio converters available for download on the Internet. dbPowerAmp is known to save valid OGG files. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

Note: The saved filenames must be less than 45 characters to play in HT18WoS

Hint: If you start each of your filenames with "01" i.e. 01mysong.ogg your files will be listed above the internal HT18WoS music.
Once you have converted your files, copy them into the \Hard Truck 18 Wheels\game\usr\music\jukebox directory. If you installed to the default directory, the default location will be C:\Program Files\Hard Truck 18 Wheels\game\usr\music\jukebox

Play the Game:

After you start the game, press "J" to bring up the Jukebox. Click on the name of the song you wish to listen to and click Play. After the song is over, the next song in the list will play automatically.
Click the Close button to close the Jukebox window.

Changing Textures

Changing Textures in Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel is an unsupported modification.
Technical support cannot answer questions relating to the modification of textures in Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel. The following is provided for informational purposes only.

What you will need:
* Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel installed on your hard disk drive.
* 230MB of space on the hard disc
* A utility that can extract ZIP archives, such as WinZIP.
* A paint program that can load and save .PNG files.

Extract the Textures

All of the textures used in Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel (HT18WoS) are stored in the BASE.ZIPFS file in the \GAME directory.

Using a utility which can read zip archives, extract the contents of BASE.ZIPFS to a separate directory. Be sure to preserve the directory structure.
Copy the Directories

In the directory you just extracted, locate the truck2 and interior2 directories in the models subdirectory. Select these two items and select COPY.
In the HT18WoS directory is a subdirectory called usr. In this directory, create a subdirectory called models. Paste truck2 and interior2 into that directory. When the game finds these directories in the usr directory, it will load these textures rather than the original textures.
Edit the Textures
Open the truck.png file located in truck2 with your paint application.
You will see the texture that is applied to the model in the game.
Use your paint program to modify texture.
Be careful not to paint over any of the glass/transparent surfaces .
After you have modified the file, be sure to save it as truck.png in the truck2 directory.
Filenames are case sensitive.

Repeat the steps with the interior.png file located in the interior2 directory.
The hood of the truck when viewed from inside the cab is included with the interior.png file, so even if you do not want to change the interior of the truck, you must modify this file to match the color scheme you've selected for the truck. Save the file as interior.png in the interior2 directory. Be careful not to modify any of the transparent/glass surfaces. Note: The file names must remain exactly the same, and in the proper directories or the modification will not work. The same technique can be used to modify other game textures. Extract the directories from BASE.ZIPFS, and duplicate the directory structure in the usr\models directory.
