The Amatzia Caves, located in the southern Lachish region of Israel, feature the only system of underground caves to have been completely excavated to date. This video goes below ground to an intricate complex of narrow passageways and tunnels, which connect to an olive press room, a mikvah, a huge water cistern, oil storage rooms, and more. The five are both protected and betrayed by a rural innkeeper and her husband, who respond to the strangers in their midst with a shifting mix of suspicion, resentment, humanity, compassion and doubt. The refugees' story ultimately unravels, and the small-minded Swiss bureaucrats carry out the letter of the law.
