Christmas Concert

Please note that the time of our December Christmas Concert has been changed to 3:30 pm.

Saintmatthewschurch.com

Our webpage has two new features, a series of photographs relating to our successful Christmas Concert and a prayer page for daily devotions.
When you click on the "special events" on the opening page, it will take you to the image of an angel. When you click on the angel it will take you to the photographs page. If you were able to attend the concert, you will remember the events and if you were not able to attend, you can see for yourself the excitement and joy we felt that night.

The Prayer page is called " Pray with us" and it is a private devotion for you to pray every day for a week. The set up is to pray the printed prayers privately at home or at the office.

Our thanks to Robert Della Valle, our church organist, for his organization of the Saint Matthew’s Church Christmas Concert and to Kathy De Luccia for her contributions to the printed folder and the web site.

The Saint Matthew’s Music Society, the Saint Matthew’s Church Christmas concerts and the Saint Matthew web page are part of our constant effort to promote our church, its’ ministry and our Lord Jesus the Savior

Pastor Schoenfeld and the Army

There is always the possibility that a soldier in the United States Army Reserve could be mobilized. It is something that is part of the contract between the soldier and his government,

When mobilization is a possibility the army will tell the soldier of it by means of an "alert" order. This is an official government communication telling the person to be ready to be called away from home and career in order to serve the needs of the nation.

These days thousands of our citizens are being alerted and many thousands more are being mobilized into active duty. It is part of our national command strategy and is expected by all who serve in the military.

Pastor Schoenfeld is a Chaplain in the Reserves. He has received an "alert" order that he may be mobilized. Such a mobilization could be for up to a year and could be in any part of the world.

We have contacted the Rev. Ronald Miller, Ph.D, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church of Teaneck. He will be able to provide Sunday worship and pastoral services if Pastor Schoenfeld is called away.

In order for this to happen, we may need to change our morning worship to 9 a.m. This will allow pastor Miller to leave here and get to his own congregation.

The Rev. Charles Singletary has also indicated he will support Saint Matthews as needed. Several other area pastors have said the same.

Mrs. Dorothy Ferri, pastor’s secretary will continue in the office, our sexton and Mr. Della Valle, our organist. Mr. Richard Harrison, our executive director, will assume pastor’s duties with our Pre School..

Your Help is Needed

"We are asking all of our members to pray for our pastor, if he is mobilized for active duty. We are also asking our members to continue attending worship at Saint Matthew’s on Sunday and to continue their generous financial support to our church" Mr. Richard Harrison said.

Speaking to the worshipping congregation on Sunday, Mr. Harrison indicated that Pastor Schoenfeld has kept the Council informed of developments in a timely manner and that council members were not surprised by the possibility of mobilization.

" Our pastor may be asked to minister to the men and women of our armed forces. They are the sons and daughters of America and they will be in harms way. I feel privileged to be able to have Pastor as our Chaplain to them." He concluded.

He asked our members to pray for peace.
