Annually we provide gifts to the residents of the center. If you want to share a Christmas gift with a needy resident please contact the church office, 201 385 5799 and we will tell you what we need.
Snow Flakes for Bergenfield Social Services
The Priscilla Guild of Saint Matthews is involved in many projects. A local effort is our giving to the Social Services department of our town.
We purchase " Snowflakes" which translate into money help for those needs not covered by government programs. The need is decided on a case by case basis by our town social worker.
If you want to join with the Priscilla sisters in this effort, you can send a check to the church office C/O Dorothy Ferri.
Holiday Bazaar Success
The annual holiday bazaar was wonderful.
As I have said over the years, the bazaar is the start to our Thanksgiving & Christmas seasons.
It is mainly an people oriented event- a time when we work with each other in the common task of putting on the bazaar and a time when we support each others efforts with our active attendance and participation on bazaar day.
This year saw our "food court" again packed with people wanting to eat our soup, egg salad, stew or ziti and to delight in our desserts.
Our bakery table again experienced fast selling of our home made breads, cakes and specialties, while our cookie walk selection was sold out of several varieties.
On Sunday we offered a selection of items to be used as gifts for secretaries, office workers, doctors offices, and the like. The beautifully wrapped baskets were very popular.
Thank you the Priscilla sisters, friends, helpers, youth of the congregation and their friends for making it a wonderful success.
Christmas Concert
Our second annual Christmas Concert was a stunning success. Thank you to all who attended.
Are You Committed? (cont')
We want to be socially responsible Christians in regards to immigration, refugees, and migrant workers. We want to assist in areas of health care and global immunization programs to eradicate preventable diseases on our planet.
We are a wealthy people and we want to share that wealth with Christian churches in Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania, China, Bolivia, Peru and Costa Rica. They are Churhes that
are asking us for the change in our dish in order that they may survive.
I have not mentioned our own needs at home because these needs are met by the core group of our pledging members. But if ALL of you who consider yourselves members of Saint Matthews would give five or ten dollars a week, every week, then we could do all of the great things we want to do.
So, dear friends, I ask you again to commit yourselves with a money pledge. Even if it is two dollars a week, it is still a valuable indication of your willingness to support the work of mission and ministry through your church.
The theme for our year is Gods Design is for Blessing His People. God does the blessing through you. Your are the body of Christ in our world. Your are his hands, feet, lips, heart.
Please send in your pledge today.
