What has Scott gotten himself into now? Will Betty ever forgive for shooing her off?

======================================================

"Scott, I don't know if I can just say everything is all right. I love you, but you hurt me. I thought you stopped loving me," exclaimed Betty.

"I couldn't ever stop loving you. I have for so long. Something came over me and I couldn't stop myself. I've never had to beg before, but please forgive me and take me back," pleaded Scott.

"Just give me some time."

"If that is what you want." Scott looked helplessly at Kyle. Kyle tried to show him to kiss Betty by kissing Rita. Scott got the idea. He took Betty into his arms and kissed her. Betty tried to pull back, but she couldn't make herself do it. She gave out a soft moan then gave her all into the kiss.

When they parted, Betty looked into his eyes and said, "I'm sorry," and ran off. Rita took after her.

Kyle walked up to Scott, who was sitting down on a bench with his head in his hands. "Go after her. You have proof she still wants you, but she's still hurt. She just doesn't know what to think. She loves you more then anything, and she needs you. I see Rita talking to her right over there. Go to her."

Scott didn't say anything. He just went over to her. Rita left them alone.

"Scott, I love you, but I need time to get over the hurt I feel. Come back with me and we'll start all over again," said Betty.

"Take your time. I'm so sorry for what I did. I love you!"

"I know, Scott, and you may kiss me again if you like."

A couple of nights later, Betty and Scott, Kyle and Rita, and Noah and Sarah, a friend, all sat together eating dinner. Betty and Scott were leaving the next morning. "Kyle, you should have your wedding on our 'Bridal Bouquet' show. We would follow the original rules for once," said Betty.

"We'll think about that. It may be different. I'll get hold of you when we decide," said Kyle.

"Betty, may I have this dance?" asked Scott.

"Of course." They headed out onto the dance floor.

"Betty, I'm worried about going home tomorrow."

"That's one thing you shouldn't be worried about. Everyone will be waiting with open arms to welcome you. You should have seen the saddness on their faces when they thought you were dead."

"Even Hildy?!"

"Even Hilary. When are you going to call her by her real name?"

"Probably never. It's too much fun watching her squirm. One of the many things I miss."

"Well, I guess not enough, since you were willing to give it all up."

"Betty, please. When will you lighten up on me? I totally regret what I did."

"I'm sorry, but I can't stop the hurt inside me. Let's just dance for a while."

Betty and Scott walked up to the WENN door. On it was a sign that read, "Welcome home, SCOTT!" They walked into the lobby and the whole gang was standing there. They shouted, "Welcome home!"

"Thanks! It feels so good to be home," said Scott. He shook hands with everyone, and when he came to Maple he gave her a big hug.

"Welcome home, Scotty. I missed you."

"I missed you too, Mapes."

Then Hilary greeted him. "Hello, Hildy," said Scott with a grin.

"That's Hilary, but it is good to hear it again. It hasn't been the same since you left."

Maple took Betty aside. "Is there something wrong between you and Scott?"

Is it that obvious? Betty said aloud, "Nothing that time won't heal. Don't worry Maple. Everything will be all right."

One night Betty woke up really early and discovered that Scott wasn't next to her. She got up and found him sitting on the couch, staring aimlessly at the wall.

"Scott, what's wrong?" asked Betty.

He jumped and quietly said, "Nothing. You wouldn't understand."

"How can I try if you won't tell me what's wrong?"

"It's nothing," muttered Scott.

"I'm so glad you put so much faith in me. Good night!"

======================================================

Betty was determined to find out what was wrong with Scott. He wouldn't tell her, so she knew she had to find out on her own. She would stay up as late as she could, but nothing happened until one night.

She had fallen asleep, but the bed started to rattle. Looking over at Scott, she saw him shaking violently. "Scott, are you all right?" asked Betty, trying to shake him.

All he wanted to do was scream, but no sound would come out. The buildings were crumbling around him. People were being killed by them, by gunshots, and by bombs. He so wished he was home. Then came the scream as he fell to the ground paralyzed.

Scott woke and turned to Betty, who was looking at him with a worried expression on her face, and asked, "Why can't I forget what happened?"

"It takes time. You're home now and I'm here to listen. Maybe all you need to do is to get it off your chest."

"I didn't even get injured. I was a wimp, and I shouldn't have come home. The war isn't done."

"When I thought that you were dead, my world seemed to end as I knew like it was done. I thought I lost everything. This is where you belong, and I need you. The war doesn't need you anymore."

"But there are people out there giving their lives, and what do I give? Nothing!"

"You've fought for this country, and your part is done. You can help on the homefront. I need you here. I love you with all my heart!"

"I love you. I have an idea."

"What is it?"

"Let's forget it for now." He leaned over and kissed her passionately.
